Our maintenance fee is a little over $ 700.00/ month[ was ~ $ 485.00 when we moved here in 2015]. We have beautiful landscaping, beautiful golf courses, basic cable, etc included, but I worry about re- sale value. We do not have a mortgage, but how can prospective buyers buys this with possibly a mortgage & these ever increasing maintenance fees?

For people visiting The Villages for the first time, it is a community of 150K people spanning probably close to 20 miles north to south. It is difficult to appreciate The Villages in one day. If you are visiting The Villages as a possible retirement home, take a Lifestyle Preview Visit or do a 6 to 10 day visit on your own. Spend a couple of days exploring each section of The Villages. And if you are thinking of living in The Villages year round, visit at least once in the summer to see if you can handle the heat & humidity.

That is exactly my plan to visit when it's very hot. We live outside of Memphis TN and it's very hot and humid here so I think we can handle it (and frankly I just sit in the AC during the heat of the day LOL). I hate the cold so I think I will love it there! My cousin and her mom moved there years ago. ❤

@@dianasimplifies I am planning another visit this summer to The Villages...thinking mid July or mid August. It should be hot 🔥 enough then. Finger crossed by mid or late summer next year I will be in my post retirement home. The Villages is still #1 on my short list.

It just occurred to me that the distance of The Villages north to south...20 miles is almost the same distance as my 25 mile one way commute 2 days a week from my home in Schaumburg, IL to my employer's office in Northbrook, IL. And that commute is 50 minutes on a good day. So if anyone from the north/nw suburbs of Chicago is reading this, that gives you an idea of how large The Villages currently is...one year from now even larger.

I had two things I wanted to say and I forgot one of them....lol. They were both suggestions. The one I remember is have you ever thought about doing a show on scams, especially ones that we seniors would fall for? I'm pretty good at discerning a scam but every once in a while I forget and almost get drawn in. A reminder would be very helpful. I just remembered the second thing. Did you check with your homeowners insurance concerning the loss of all your frozen items in that freezer due to an electrical failure? Wouldn't hurt to ask.

Thanks as always Jerry and Linda! To the man asking about boating jobs, they also have air boats that tour the Ocala National Park and there are probably manatee boat tourism jobs around. BTW, I'm sorry about your freezer, get an alarm plug in box that makes and alarm sound when the power goes out, probably cheap. If you wanted something above that get a smart plug that talks to your phone and alerts you. D Link and others make them. OMG, its funny that you talk about ear plugs to sleep, I agree!

Hi! We just arrived home (south FL) from The Villages yesterday after spending the weekend. We came to see Home Free at the “Sharon Morse Theater” (beautiful theater in restored church) and it was the 30th Anniversary party at Spanish Springs. Hubby and I had the BEST time that we have had in a very long time. People were not only friendly and outgoing they were KIND. There was so much going on that we didn’t to go to back to our room to, I have never showered so quickly because I didn’t want to miss a moment out in the square. Yes, the entertainment was more than expected, the weather was perfect, the food at the restaurants was great, but it was the people with their smiles and welcoming manner that made it so special. Hubby and I are fortunate enough to have traveled and cruised around the world, and i honestly can say the people from the Villages are the BEST. It’s a village of kindness. Restored our faith in mankind! God bless you all. Oh, Ann Home Free concert was awesome!!!

One aspect that should be discussed is the health benefits of moving to the Villages (or other non snow climates). As one ages, it is harder to recover from a fall on ice or snow. Isn't it sad when someone who retires but then breaks a hip after slipping on ice and never fully recovers to enjoy their retirement years? This is hard for the other spouse as well. Something to consider when choosing a place to retire. Love your videos!

I agree 100%. A few years ago I fell on a patch of black ice in my driveway and slipped two discs in my back. I was so happy I had retired from my main job and then that happened. I'm OK now but if it weren't for the black ice that would not have happened.

That's great...that concludes my search...too many dangerous animals in that Central Florida area. This is the top for me. Maybe it could be caused by the change in the trash collection...just maybe...not using trash cans anymore and just a bag could be attracting animals.

Concerning the torn up downspout. we live in PA near Gettysburg. 10 years ago my neighbor had the exact same thing happen to the bottom of his drain away from his house. The rubber extention had been buried underground. I was out watering my newly seeded lawn when I spotted the entire extension ripped from the downspout laying in MY yard. It had teeth marks in it just like your video. I thought it must have been a bear from the nearby Appalachian Mountain. Never did solve the issue. I still think it was a bear chasing something until it hid in the downspout extension. Not sure if a bobcat could rip the 40 foot extension out of the ground. I bear might, but what could a bear be chasing that could have fit in that tube? To Be Continues...Story at 5:00.🧸

One second Jerry’s talking about bubble wrap, the next second an ad starts up with a woman talking about her bra.
