Chair Hogs- at The Squares: A month ago we got to Brownwood an hour early and found 6 folding chairs set up in the front row- with no people in them. The place was mobbed. Still no people at 5:30, so the Vestie took them down, folded them up, and put them aside. The chair owners showed up at 6:00 and expressed their irritation. Hats off to this Vestie- but it's the first time I've seen this enforced. "No seat saving unless a member of your party stays with the seats".

That is correct! I don't like those seat savers. Vestie! Never heard that one, but it's a good one.

@@DisMindy5767 Folding chairs. The people set them up in the front row- taking the entire row at 4:00 and probably went to have supper. By 5:00 people were having trouble finding a spot. It was for Relic, so there were probably 1,000 people by 5:30.

This use to happen a LOT. People would have blocks of chairs sometime as many as a dozen set up by 2:00. They would often tie a string around their little bunker. Lots of arguments and it was getting crazy for a while.

No NO NO. no saving seats. If you show up at 2PM to setup seats, then you better be sitting in that chair from that point forward. Dont leave. And dont set up more than one other chair. Maybe your significant other is on their way. If you leave then your personal seats unattended then your seats are up for grabs and should be considered public domain. If someone takes your seats, then too bad. If you abandon your seats, then you deserve to lose ownership of them.

We rode our bikes to The Strawberry Festival. There were hundreds of cars, but ours were the only bikes in the bike racks. Our batteries lock to the bikes with a key, and we use 2 heavy-duty locks to secure the bikes.

Copper looks like such a sweet pup! The head shaking might indicate that he needs to see a vet for possible ear mites or yeast, especially if the ear canal is red.

Here’s a tip on how to catch those Palmetto bugs - a can of shaving cream! Spray the shaving cream and it will surround the bug so it cannot fly or move. Scoop it up with a dustpan and toss it out in the yard. The shaving cream will not stain and easy to wash away. I had a can of the cheapest shaving cream under every sink and one in the garage. Hope this helps!!

I take my eBike to Sawgrass Grove all the time. The bike racks are right there, behind the bar, opposite the stage. Yes, I lock it up (my eBike was pretty pricey). I like taking a bike ride that hour before sunset, then stop by the square to hear the band for a few songs , and to whet my whistle 😅 🍻 I have taken it to Brownwood too, but it’s a hike from Newell. Eastport, once it opens, will be an easy bike ride. We usually bring our own chairs to the square, although the bleachers at Brownwood are nice (and usually available when the band takes a break). But, yes, there are chair hogs at Sawgrass. I’ve experienced someone who gets there early and “holds” chairs for others coming later. Doesn’t happen a lot, but it happens. We recently had the springs repaired on our garage door here up north (yes, we’re “snowbirds”) and the repair guy told us about using WHITE LITHIUM lubricant ONLY, as Peter recommends. It’s amazing how quiet the garage door is now too. How big was that bug? 😂 LOL (sounds like a fish story) We occasionally get a small gecko on our lanai 🦎 our cats love them 😺 Oh, and I got it 👍🏻 (the jumble)

Love watching your show. My sister moved there about 8 years ago and she loves it! I have visited her twice and sorry but TV not for us. Weather too hot and politics do not match with mine. My wife and I both taught for over 35 years each and been retired 2o years now. Enjoy your trip to Alaska. Been there 3 times and never took a cruise. Look for the big Blue and Yellow ships of the Alaska Marine Highway system. My preferred way to travel up the coast! Hope you get to Sitka my favorite spot. Safe travels!

I agree, the sports pools usually check your I’d when you join an aerobics, or other class. I do not mind at all getting out of the pool to have someone check my ID. I think it’s the responsible thing to do. I also have had an attendant who didn’t mind going in my bag and getting my ID at my request.

Regarding non Villagers using the pools I hope to see a better plan going forward. The Morse family is wonderful as are the folks who manage the Community Watch; however, with all the changes Florida has and is continuing to experience it's a different place just outside the bubble then it was even a year ago. Soooo many new people who may not be aware these pools are for residents only or simply may not care. I don't know what the solution could be but I feel there needs to be a better plan before it becomes a real problem.

Gatorade is banned in the EU because it has bromine and dyes that [may] cause cancer: red 40, yellow 5 and 6. Bottled water plastics have also been shown to be in our bloodstreams. A better choice is lemonade or tap water served from a pitcher. Cost effective too!

Totally agree with checking the IDs. Paying $200/mo and having someone who isnt from the area using the pools would really upset me. Oh, I must be so much younger than the two of you! There were 4 channels when I grew up: ABC, NBC, CBS, PBS. Saturday morning cartoons rule! And you always left the room first, so your brother didn't punch you over and over to turn off the television.

We live on Amelia Island Florida. about 21/2 hours east of TV. We LOVE Florida and take many road trips around FL and GA. In February we did the east to west trip and spent a day at TV. I was surprised how many new apartments are being built. That will change the entire environment... renters historically do not take pride in their environment. DEL Webb is doing the same in their new developments, and you can see the impacts. Love you guys. Frank

The apartments being built are NOT part of The Villages. The apartments being built are just like other cities. The Villages is a 55+ ACTIVE community is part of the many different cities covering 3 counties- Marion, Lake and Sumter. The Villages has no control or say over what construction goes on in the various cities.

The not checking pool id’s if your are in the pool drives me crazy. The amount of people that use the pools that don’t have a pass is unreal. They know to watch for the villages vehicles or when the employee comes into the pool they get up out of chair and hit the water or will just leave real quick. We see that happen all the time. I’ve even seen them lock a pool and turn people away because it’s at capacity, only to later see a family leave and there was about 20 of them that were actually all together. Is there a limit to the number of passes a person can get (if they even had a pass)?

If you suspect folks are not Villagers or guests with passes, contact the rec center staff and point them out to the staff person.
