1950 Chevrolet Styleline Deluxe Convertible at Ellingson Motorcars in Rogers, MN

This 1950 Chevrolet Styleline Deluxe Convertible is a nice-looking 50s convertible that is ready for some serious cruising. In 1950, Chevrolet was America's largest automaker in terms of units sold. While the 1950 models were from a style perspective relatively unchanged from the previous year, the biggest changes occurred on the mechanical side. The Powerglide automatic transmission debuted in 1950 and required the use of a modified 235 Inline 6 OHV truck engine. Also new in 1950 was the debut of the Bel Air Hardtop, the first hardtop available on a Chevrolet. The new Bel Air was so successful in fact that some believe that it encroached on the sales of the DeLuxe Styleline convertibles with the Bel Air selling more than twice as many units as the convertibles. On this particular '50 Chevy, the upgraded 235 Cubic Inch Inline 6 Cylinder engine with a single barrel carburetor runs smoothly and sends power to the rear axle. Exhaust exits the 235 Inline 6 via a Fenton exhaust manifold through a dual exhaust setup that gives this Chevy a nice throaty sound. A 3 speed manual transmission is mated to the 235 Inline 6 and is shifted using a "three-on-the-tree" shifter. The chrome and brightwork around the exterior of this 1950 Chevrolet are in excellent condition and show well. The white vinyl power convertible top is in wonderful condition and it goes up and down with the pull of switch under the dash. Riding on a set of 215/75R15 wide whitewall radial tires with full wheel covers, this '50 Chevy has a wonderful ride and a great look especially with the rear tires being tucked behind a set of fender skirts. A set of curb feelers have also been added to the passenger side so that you can park with ease. The exterior has been refinished in a beautiful Oxford Maroon that gives the car a truly classy exterior appearance. The interior on this 1950 Styleline is stunning! The front and rear bench seat has been beautifully reupholstered in red and white vinyl. The dash, door panels, and steering wheel are in great shape and all appear to be in their stock configuration. The dash is equipped with a 100 MPH speedometer, temperature gauge, oil pressure gauge, battery gauge, and fuel gauge, along with a clock and push-button AM radio. An auxiliary oil pressure gauge has also been mounted neatly under the dash.

5:04 That's still a problem on today's streets in today's cars. one of the major gripes I have with my 2014 Challenger in fact. Theroof just comes so far forward and so low that I have to lean on the steering wheel like grandma and crane my neck to see the lights if I'm first in line and stop where I'm supposed to.

Chevy didn’t have a V8 until 1955. Even the ‘53 and ‘54 Corvettes were inline 6-cylinder engines.
