Great video I always basecoat and clearcoat my engines seems to hold up 100 times better than shitty high temp engine paint.
@LocoCustoms6 ай бұрын
Thank you ! And I agree, I usually base and clear my motors. However this customer wanted the single stage paint that he brought.

Yes, sir that is a good update on that front suspension and it's quite different to paint the engine another color besides the Chevrolet orange. I do not believe that the Chevrolet orange would be compatible with the color of the truck.
@LocoCustoms6 ай бұрын
Thank you! Glad you like the color. I’m tired of seeing hoods open and it’s the same old Chevy orange. Happy New Year🎄🥳✨
@billywird6 ай бұрын
Yes, sir and I think that in this particular application there would be a color clash with the engine painted Chevrolet orange@@LocoCustoms

I know of 3 street rods that I put original Mustang crossmembers, with my designed strut brace that have been driven all the time, My 36 Plymouth sedan, I personally won best Mopar at Louisville many years ago, I put 147K miles on it! It’s still on the road along with a 42 Chevy in western NY a 33 Plymouth in Southcentral Indiana and his neighbor with a 47 Chevy coupe, still driving around after 40 years 👍👍😱

Love the get it done attitude 👍 good steady work makes the project closer to thr Street and closer to enjoying 👍 my personal preference would been the shave but keep the factory beading going thru. Anyway, great work. Edit: commented too early love final product 👍👍 What was the suspension? Coil springs in front and leaves in back? It's the proper daily height in my opinion.
@LocoCustoms6 ай бұрын
Good question- Put a lowered leaf kit in the back and mustang two with coils in the front, rides like dream. And I would agree, sure is the the right daily height. Thank you for watching and enjoying🎄✨ and commenting! We love reading your preferences
@blue32nu3 ай бұрын
@LocoCustoms I watched the video again, and you said you angled the crossmember 4 degrees along with the tophats, too? So both crossmember and upper mounts are angled at 4 degrees? I thought just the top mounts were just angled and the crossmember level?

@@LocoCustoms I’ve owned (3) 64 chevys, (2)-4 doors & (1) 2 door hardtop (1) 56 Buick special, (1) 74 Buick Apollo and back when I owned them I had zero knowledge about anything, and would become depressed thinking I could never have my car become nice because didn’t know how to do the work never being in a position to hire a shop for anything, I was an idiot and sold them, regretted it ever since. Honestly My hands on experience doing actual builds is very limited. But gaining knowledge on processes is something I’ve been doing for quite some time in regards to metal work, body work, learning materials and the order in which they are used, blocking techniques, knowing the differences inbetween different fillers and primers and their applications, suspension types, frame and suspension modifications etc.. I’ve just never had any opportunity to apply what I’ve studied on an actual build. I’ve been a nightclub professional for well over 20 years and didn’t realize until I took a hiatus how much being in that environment for so long damaged my mental health so this love I’ve had for cars my whole life I’ve now made my main focus. I am knowledged to know things like for example, gussets, fishplates, lightweight versus polyester fillers versus glass fillers, mig versus TIG versus flux, solvent based materials versus water based, pinion angle variations concerning lowered or raised suspensions.. etc.. and I have absolutely no ego, and I would love any opportunity to learn as much as I can absolutely. I’m trying to become proficient enough at enough things to have an opportunity to find myself my 64 convertible and do enough enough work for other people to where I can build up to owning one and possibly excel past the level of success I reached working in nightclubs, which when I stopped 2 years ago I was managing 2 clubs in Portland with a roster of over 40 people at each location, including vendors, contractors etc.. I’ve basically shifted my attention for details to car work because of those reasons I mentioned before. So again feel free to reach out to me at any time, my instagram is @wrongthingz and I’d feel blessed to contribute to any situation. God Bless . 💯 I don’t believe in grunt work, every job is important as it is crucial. Love goes out.

When you smoothed the firewall did you put any braces to stiffen the firewall so it doesn"t flex when braking?
@LocoCustoms6 ай бұрын
Yes, behind the brake booster there’s a steel plate that attaches to the firewall and the dashboard welded and braced very well

Question why 3 degrees what will it help ? and have you thought of using an electric steering Column to keep the bay less cluttered.

Three degree helps with the castor of the front end and I haven’t tried an electric steering column but I’m going to. That’s a good eye, thanks for the comment!
