Richard and Christina don't let the naysayers get you down. You 2 are great and doing great things. You saved this to save other cars. Even if only the shell goes on to become someone's resto mod custom, it will live on. You already have your project cars. There is nothing wrong with finding and rescuing cars for others to have a project. God bless y'all.

Richard I’m glad to see you’re wearing a mask it’s also good idea to remind people when they’re working on the brakes on these old cars is to be aware that the brake shoe lining may be made out of asbestos and to take the proper precautions when working or handling them.

I like that car. I think this car would grow on most people. It's got a lot of character/style. I wish someone would bring this type of car build back. The details, even on the smallest parts are great. If I could I'd take a car like this one fix it so it's reliable and safe to drive but I think I would leave the body looking like it does but for a little body work here and there.

I understand what you guys are saying. I once had a '79 Plymouth Volare that I was extremely attached to, and attempted to restore. The engine needed a facelift, but the body and transmission were in good shape. The problem was that nearly every plastic piece on the car was broken, and nothing for the car was produced anymore. The parts I needed were nearly impossible to find, and were prohibitively expensive when I did find them. Despite the fact that the car ran and was in good overall condition, it would have taken decades and I would have spent many times what the car was worth to fix it. I loved that car, but sometimes you have to know when to say when.

You did well to rescue the car from where it was, and I think you are right to part it out or sell it to someone who has a particular interest in further work on it. It looks like it has a lot of good body and trim parts, but the rust on floor level and below probably means it would be a lot of work to restore. I wonder how rusty the frame is. It was probably pretty luxurious for a Chevy in its day, because it was fully equipped with automatic transmission and radio, and all that upholstery and padding that you had so much fun cleaning out. I think what you needed for the headliner was a gardening tool of some sort, like a plastic rake with a short handle... ☺☺☺

well this was an interesting video. What a mess. Wife and I was watching this and wife commented "when does the rat tail come in view"? What she was referring to was when i brought in a 54 2dr. She was helping me clean it out just like you two and she was up front passenger side when this long pink hairless tail came down from behind the dash. The Schreck she let out and the mad dash away from that car. I didnt hear the last of that for days. In point of fact she brought it up again 40 years latter. TODAY LOLOLO On the master cylinder being a automatic. Your absolutely correct its worth a lot cause they don't make them as rebuilds now. BUT National chevy association has a conversion kit to take the two peddle and convert it over to a one pedal for use in automatic cars. I have several I have kept as the rebuild kits are still out there.

She's a beaut, Clark! lol That one's pretty bad, but I have seen worse. I bought a car with 7 dead cats in it once. Another time, I bought a '71 and '73 VW fastbacks from an estate sale. Both had been sitting with the windows down for years, and both were stuffed to the gills with VW parts for every make and model through the mid 70's. It took several days to clean them out, but I made good money selling the parts. I made more on the parts than I got for the cars, but they both went to a good home and were fully restored by their new owner.

Speaking of one armed monkeys, my first truck I bought I was 15. It was a Mazda , 4 years old and it was a painters truck. The entire truck was covered in paint, It was so bad the dealer couldnt sell it, until I came around, I couldnt drive for almost a year so I sat there every day with dupont rubbing compound and began my task, When I turned 16 I had a brand new truck. good times.

All the people that say a car shouldn't be parted out should put their money where their mouth is & buy the car. The amount of time I've heard the cry of it needs saving from people who would have trouble airing the tires up is amazing.

I love this car, but I didn't realize how bad the interior was in the previous videos. I still think it is worth fixing, but it will take someone with deep pockets to do it.

I'm not too sure in which episode it was when when Richard asked for advice about the Dip stick oil thing. It was like "Why is it that the first time I look at old car oil, it looks grubby and horrible. But when I check and look again, it looks fine." My guess is that the dip stick grabs local surface tension dirt/dust & when you first pull the oil stick out, you get some attached to the oil stick. Next time, you get to go in , you first wash it, put it in a clear hole and will give a clearer result. Something like that.

Save the visor’s internal hardware for rebuilding later. Also save anything for a pattern for later restoration.

Agree 100 percent. Some cars need to be part cars unless it is a 1957 chevy or coarse. it would make sense to save the car if it was a 1955 or 1957 chevy.

While I am a HUGE advocate of saving and restoring these old classics, what Christina said does make a lot of sense. As the fictional Mr. Spock once said, "The needs of the many outweigh the the needs of the one". While this car could be saved and brought back to life, it is a car that would be needed by a weekend tinkerer that doesn't want to make it a show car but just to have a project to play around with. By the way, will the fender skirts fit the green Chevy?

I have a 64 dodge 440 2 door hardtop and it doesn’t have seatbelts or flashers but it is an automatic with ps pb and air conditioning so when I seen this early 50s Chevy with seatbelts it kinda made me think about how cars were equipped back then.

The seat belts were added on. 50 Chevy's didn't have them, or at least mine didn't. Seat belts are a part of the 60's era.

Hi Richard & Christina, greetings from Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿. That was an awful mess that you both had to deal with. ( Nice job on the dashboard Christina ). The patina is superb on the car. It’s a pity that it’s so far gone. I do hope someone buys it with a view to getting it running and perhaps modifying bits and pieces. Personally I think a good rub and a couple of coats of clear and it’ll look just fine. It’s a real stylish car and deserves to be restored. Cheers 🥃 John.
