1950 Chevy Truck (Ep 87) Finishing Up the Hood - Center Moulding Polish/Install and Emblem Install

Today we put the finishing touches on the hood in preparation to get it installed back on the truck. We need to do a little color sanding on the center moulding and then get it polished up real nice and then move onto installing the emblems. I have some tips and tricks for you as always.

Great job Mark! Those tips and tricks will come in handy when I get to this stage. I have to agree with you on these aftermarket parts. You're always fighting something to get them to fit. Can't wait to see the hood on the truck!

Thanks, me too. I guess we all should feel fortunate parts are available at all for an over 70 year old truck. Luckily with a little time and effort you can get them to fit and look really nice.

Timely video for me. I just removed the center strip and emblems from my ‘53 hood yesterday and took all the sheet metal to the media blaster to prep for paint. Great tips on re-installing these items.

Good to hear. I hope they come back looking great. Watch for media getting stuck behind the mounting sheet metal on the center strip.

Great video! I'm in the same dilemma customizing the hood ornament gasket. You think they could have been a bit more precise.

Thanks Mav, I can call you Mav right? 😁 I couldn't imagine installing that beautiful emblem with that gasket that huge. What if the hood was painted white? Yikes it would look horrible. Fingers crossed yours comes out as nice as the one I did. Mark
