The 1950 Monaco Grand Prix, was a Formula One motor race held on 21 May 1950 at Monaco. It was race two of seven in the 1950 World Championship of Drivers. Therace was won by Juan Manuel Fangio for the Alfa Romeo team after starting from pole position. Alberto Ascari finished second for Ferrari and Louis Chiron finished third for Maserati.
I have used Deoldify to colorize the raw footage and than spent hours of hand made optimization on the color of the cars. For better results I would need a professional video-editing program but I am pretty satisfied for now.
Tell me in the comments what you think about it and don't forget to subscribe if you would like to see more of this kind of material.

They were racing four cars wide. On the streets of Monaco. Where today they can barely do two wide. Amazing.

the colors are a bit wiggly, and it looks like a painting sometimes. But holy shit dude. This is insanely cool. I'm blown away by the quality man. Unreal almost. You did a terrific Job

Thank you very much! These colorized videos requires hours and hours of work but for better results I would probably need a new editing software with more powerful masking features.

0:34 that's gasoline pouring out of the back of the car. One spark and it's all over. These guys, all of them, drivers and pit members, simply were of a different level of courage. Great, nicely reworked video. This is the future. In just a scant few more years, AI will get great enough to pixelate these wonderful videos and to add the high definition aspects that will greatly sharpen the images in ways we can barely believe. But this is already so much better then the original film. Great job, even, four years later.

can’t wait for the next F1 Grand Prix. Although it’s so glamorous now, I still wish I could have seen the older races in person. that is what “hot me hooked” F1 ever since I was a child. The roar of the engines, the anticipation of the drivers…the flags and turns….Mesmerizing thanks for sharing the real F1…🏎🏁❤️

Ahahah, my mistake! Alfredo Pian was 18th. Although results like that could be possible in those times. Maurice Trintignant ended the 1955 Argentinian Grand Prix BOTH 2nd and 3rd due to the possibility to share the drive. But definitely not in qualifying! :-)

@andreacolombo9795
@andreacolombo9795 3 жыл бұрын
@@TonyHdzV The race was held in a very hot day and drivers needed cooling brakes, swapping cars in the process, so almost everyone drove on more than one car before the end of the race. That "almost" doesn't include Fangio that went on ignoring the heat and winning the home race.

You should see the flag man at the end of the races at the time... They would walk into the track right next to the racing line to wave the checkered flag... Also, the flag men on these races were usually the race director himself...
