He doesn't have to share these things with us. It's not like he needs the fame and I bet with production costs this channel is only breaking even. We even get to see things when they don't go perfect. So if you're the kind of person who likes to leave angry comments, do what you got to do. I'm sure he was cringing from that scrape that they put on the underside of the gullwing, but it was neat seeing him give the "no big deal". Jay, if you're reading this, I just wanted to say how much admiration I have for you. And it's not the usual admiration for a Hollywood star because I really don't have any admiration for any of those people. It's admiration for what a normal, regular person you are despite being a Hollywood star. I admire your love for vehicles, your knowledge of them and the way you present this show. You must have had numerous fights with executives who have wanted to hide the occasional imperfections that crop up (like the scratch in today's episode). These people always want to present a sanitized, squeaky clean image of life, even while presenting a reality show. I want you to know that there are people out there (I am one) who greatly appreciate the fact that you show it like it was filmed..like it occurred. A true reality show. I watch every episode. Keep up the good work. There are very few people I subscribe to on KZbin but I will always be a subscriber to this show. ...a Canadian fan in St. Catharines, Ontario

Airbag suspension . Just like a semi . That little truck isn't anywhere near heavy enough to overcome those bags ! Must ride awful funny , though , beyond just the steering happening behind you .
@ekner8 жыл бұрын
The centre of gravity is probably very similar to a big front wheel drive car, so the suspension would be fine. Think lorry suspension, really heavy duty stuff. As far as the design decision of making it with such a huge overhang... Crash safety would be like if you put an egg on the nose of a brick and drove it around like that, lol :P That's taking into account the materials and design styles of the time. A modern version of that transporter could be as safe as any new lorry if you really wanted to make it.

I have a friend in his late 70s that is a real car guy and saved many things but he is really sad to think of when he was a kid how many of those old cars he cut up with a torch for a guy that sold scrap metal. They wouldn't have more than scrap value for 30-50 years. Think about what you throw away today as junk and what it could be worth in 50 years. Then again in 50 years it might still be junk.

What about the rest of Europe? Mercedes didn't just race in Germany.

That's why it has a funny design, so it can have a smaller turning circle for its overall length.

"When you don't have Netflix, this is the kind of stuff you can build" - boy he's right! I built a couple cars from scratch and both Netflix and KZbin had to be kept at bay to finish Kimini and Midlana.

It's obvious this a build means more to you than most of your others. And the beautiful gift of that trophy! Thank you for sharing this!

What I like about these videos is that you have information that cannot be found anywhere else, not in a library, not online, not in a government database, and you have cars that don't exist anywhere else. The fabrication photos are nice.

Jay Leno is the best automotive enthusiast. His knowledge of such a diverse range of automobiles is amazing. Love these videos!

Jay has an original and I have only a 1:64 scale replica of this transporter. The difference between my replica and Jay's is the sport car, mine is a silver convertible.

I have the 1:43 and the 1:64 scale replica of the transporter. The 1:18 scale version costs an arm and a leg. What a vehicle!

Great vehicle. I have seen the one in the Mercedes Museum and thought it was the coolest truck.

Jay, thanks for constantly broadening our automotive vocabulary. Once again, you highlighted a vehicle most of us never knew existed. I love this transporter with its beautiful curves! How long did it take for you to calibrate to the steering with the front wheels so far back?

Way to keep it together Jay. I might have lost my cool to witness that gauging.

I love how Jay, a real car guy's car guy, does not put some emotion evoking sound track or other antics to "jazz up" the video. It is just Jay flipping through pictures & talking about car craft - simple, love it!

Jay, you are the best. You can take anyone on a trip to the garage and make almost any car dream come true. Especially for the guys that are limited on funds you complete the dream with info and a ride in the car. With respect to Carson you were the greatest on the Tonight Show! May you keep motoring for many many years!
