Totally original wood work well preserved in unreal condition.

Proof workmanship back in the day was better than today. Aluminum outlasts any new materials today. Their joints, load bearing designs etc were spot on. The products were honest and didn't have planned obsolescence.

Totally agree. These were truly "land yachts". Today's "best built" ANYTHING doesn't even come close. Had never even heard of Spartan 24 hrs ago. Saw my first a restored all original 1947 Spartan Manor here on YT and am now obsessed.

@@misslora3896 the first Spartan I saw was when, as an artist, I decided to photograph and make paintings of the declining Florida trailer parks. Right down the street from me both to north and the south were two Imperials. At one park, the tenants even invited me inside. As dilapidated as the unit was, since the owner was just sucking all the money he could from renting it without making any repairs, the woodwork stood out for its quality. These two parks have so many gems. I haven't been able to learn what some of them are.. They are so rare that even vintage FB page members can't identify them. Oh if I had the money to buy and restore. What's so sad is that they are being allowed to crumble away. When the parks get sold, these gems are consigned to the junk heap.

I rented a 1954 42' Imperial Mansion by Spartan when I was going to school in Waco back in 1982-83. There was a bedroom up front, a bedroom in the back, we had the dinette just to the left of the front door, the stove and kitchen sink/counter was on the right side across from the fridge, the bathroom was a little bigger with a small tub/shower on the outer wall and the toilet and sink facing each other. The woodwork was so amazing and so beautiful. Thank you so much for sharing this. 😊

OMG... What a great find. Don't do anything to it, just find an exact replacement light for that area, and that's about it. Keep it clean, You can flip this easy. Good Luck, loved the video.

In the late 70s I lived in one just like this...the kitchen was a tad different and it had a booth for eating. The inside walk through bedroom is really rare, I looked all over for one like it now just to refresh my memory..our traier leaked in the back so we just couldn't use the back bedroom. The heater was kerosene and located by the front door! It was quiet inside and sturdy. If only I could find one now! The only issue was that the gas stove was facing the alleyway in the kitchen and one morning one of us bumped a knob on the way out leaving it on all day. Coming home that evening my husband put his cigarette out just before opening the door! We narrowly escaped getting blown up!

This is the first 36' Spartan I've seen with a center bed. The ones I have seen incorporate a dinette into where the center bed in yours is located. I lived in a 36' when I was in college back in 1974.

These 1951 Spartan mobile homes packed 2 bedrooms into 36 feet long! I think that I would have wanted it a full 40 ft long, and added a bit more space in the bathroom, for a tub instead of a wet bathroom where one showers in it where the commode area is. It really makes a nice tiny house though.
@104bigTruck2 жыл бұрын
Yep the bathroom needs a tad more elbow room for sure.

The bonus is that the toilet gets cleaned every time you take a shower. I had the same bathroom in a '52 Mansion, except that it wasn't white, but all polished aluminum or stainless steel, not really sure.

At 4:00, I noticed what looked like a plugged drain in the floor of the front bedroom closet..Did I see correctly? Am looking a second time to figure out where the shower is, because you didn't say (that I heard).. In the back bdrm, while 2 beds 'fit,' is that a door handle on the left wall that the bed is pushed up against? An outside door, I mean? I am guessing that editing could have left out alot? p.s. I have zero interest in the kitchens 'left in the trailer' bits & bobs...unless I can purchase this great trailer! Thanks

@@104bigTruck Well, there's my answer! Me, personally, I would turn the front closet into a shower, maybe! Just depends. Maybe use a Marine varnish on the wood inside there, but would certainly follow a ship builder's advice on that. Or, maybe I would come to love the original bath! Don't know!

Why is it so hard for modern "retro" campers to look like this on the inside rather than have cheap crappy fake wood and counter tops with modern looking appliances? This is so so so much nicer and classier
