Truck looks great. I'd love one similar. Not show worthy but a really nice daily. Like your concerns about the slight metal imperfections are perfect for me. Like I guess I'd hi build primer and paint and drive it. Anyway, that looks beautiful

JP, great work! I can tell the thought and planning you put into each step.....hey, what headers are those? I've read that the fit is tricky for an LS on the original truck frame, maybe because your engine sits further back you have extra space for the long primary tubes? There are a ton of different "LS swap" headers online, eBay, etc., I'm sure one of them has to fit these trucks.
@jp.lagrange
@jp.lagrange 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! And yeah you bet, lots of planning and research. I noticed allot of people complaining about the header clearance on these trucks so I did lift and recess the engine about 1". These are Ultimate Headers and the engineers there helped allot with drawings and dimensions. I actually raised the front crossmember into the frame rails so the engine wasn't sitting high above the axle center line.

@@jp.lagrange thanks for the reply JP. I'm planning to start on a 1952 truck this summer. I'm going to check into the recessed firewall to help fit my lq4 and give me more options for fans and accessory/pulleys. I really want to fit long tube headers to get that exhaust rumble just right. I suppose I can raise the motor mounts but don't want the center of gravity up too high. I also have to have AC since i live in the southern USA. There is going to be a lot of hurdles to clear but thats part of the hobby. Lots of test fitting for sure! I subbed and looking forward to learning from you.thanks
@jp.lagrange
@jp.lagrange 2 жыл бұрын
@@robertkrupa2552 you've probably seen those recessed firewall kits? Those should do the trick. I can measure the location of my engine. The headers are about 1/8 or 1/4 from the frame

Too bad its slammed like everyone else does, please don't swap in an LS and fugly overstuffed interior.
@jp.lagrange
@jp.lagrange Жыл бұрын
It's not slammed. It has about the same drop you would have seen in the fifties. Once this engine dies I absolutely will install the 6.2L LS I have waiting, I will ensure the engine retains the correct style of the era. As for interior it'll be upgraded with all new wiring, power steering and safer electrical connections, it too will retain the same style from the correct era. I'm sure you don't shit on Chip Foose or Boyd Coddington cars, even though they all had the ugly oversized billet wheels and excessively chopped tops. (I do highly respect those fellas though👍)
