I start Betty, my 1952 Buick Straight Eight on a Sunday morning outside our house. She has a 4.3 litre engine and is right hand drive because she's originally from South Africa. She has been restored and we use her and her sister Wilma, a green and white '49 Buick as wedding and prom cars - check out www.bluemooncars.co.uk for more pics. We're in WInchester in the UK.

Seeing nice seeing such a high quality classic in HD is like traveling through time. It really helps you understand why America use to be so in love with cars. Now most cars have been reduced to incredibly expensive and souless transportation devices. Kind of depressing.

Lovely car. I'm happy to see it respected. I remember when I was little, I would hear a car coming down the street and knew it was a Buick without seeing it, because the engine had that wonderful deep rumbling sound.

Very nice Buick, looks like new. My dad bought a 52 Special new. I was 10 years old it was dark green on the lower and cream color on top. Yours brings back memories. Thanks

I live in Alberta, Canada & someone in the Province is selling a bunch of 1952 Buick Roadmasters for $600 I think. The cars need to be restored of course, then I keep telling myself that a car such as this isn't a "daily" driver

Thanks for all the replies in the meantime. They are much appreciated and I agree, they're lovely cars. You can't beat the straight eight. We sold Betty five years ago now due to a change in circumstances but I'm currently looking for a '52 Roadmaster, maybe a project, we'll see.

@BuzzyFredrick. Not really any major differences. The mechanics are still basically the same. The throttle mechanism, speedo cable and gear linkage are all jury-rigged or just reversed. The dashboard is identical but reversed, the battery was underneath the driver's seat rather than in the engine bay - I've had it repositioned in the trunk for ease of access.

@@UfoDan100 Glad they did not, We have to have a few RHD countries, only country that did that was Sweden, LHD cars driving left side until they caught up with the rest of Europe, Always wondered why Americans kiss left handed?, guess it's because of where the steering wheel is placed in the car, I am not going to explain that, look at some old US movies and you just might be bright enough to figure it out.

America's Right side of the road dates back to horse & wagon days. Some U.S. cars in the early 1900s were RHD as they wished to emulate British ones, notably Pierce-Arrow, whom began as a wire birdcage maker before being a luxury car until 1936.
