Wow! I remember these cars from when I was kid. I grew up during the 1950s, those cars were built like an army tank. There was so much steel in the body panels. In the 1980s, there was a homeless couple with their kid and their pet dog, living in the station wagon version of this car. It was really sad, it was reported in our town's newspaper. This was happening in Cleveland, Ohio. The couple said they ran the engine in the winter to keep the interior warm, and in the summer, they draped wet towels, in the windows, to somehow cool the interior. The husband said he spent many hundreds of dollars on gasoline, to keep themselves warm. At the time, renting a suite at a motel, would have been cheaper, plus they would have had access to a bathroom with a shower. They were stubborn folks. Because once their story had been reported in the news, community members came together, to find them low cost housing. They turned them down. For the next 2 years, we'd see new articles, about their continued living, in their car. I clipped the news articles from the paper, and kept them for years. I still remember the grainy B&W photos, of the couple, their kid and their dog.

@@gatti5002 It would have had to been the whole firm, not just one guy - Pininfarina was a car design firm. But I know what you're getting at. Remember, this was the early '50's and aerodynamic styling was all a-rage.
