This bike was new when i was born 64 years ago. i'm fortunate to have acquired a 68 Triumph Trophy Sports for a dollar a cc back in 72 while stationed at Ft.Bragg. Had it completely restored in 2012 by Big D Cycle, and have 12,500 miles on it to date. Every angle as is this beauty, is just that, beauty and function. -gilpin 10-9-16

I've studied this video for reference for my 1951 T-bird restoration project over and over and it gave me a new answer everytime. I thought i noticed a possible loose engine case fastener at 14:24 you can see at far left missing a washer or just a reflection in the painted bracket? I'll have to check mine out soon. Great bike, great video footage and great job whoever did this restoration! It's really a big help with my own jigsaw puzzle.👍

Thank you for your comments. Delighted it’s been a help with your own restoration. The nut you refer too is actually fastened to a bracket which holds gearbox. This was the last restoration carried out by a friend and Triumph expert Hughie Hancox. Many thanks again. Derek

When I had my 6T about 1963/64 it had SU carb and distributor and coil.

It's the only time I've ever seen one with the original S.U. carb. Does it run well on it? They had a reputation for being difficult to start with the S.U. but I think guys just couldn't resist the temptation to fiddle with the screws. Champion spark plugs would be more in keeping with the era. She is a beauty in fairness.

caffjohn Hi John, always ran perfectly with the SU. Never a problem starting. It was set up correctly though and fully restored before fitment. Incredible smooth running from them, much more efficient than the Amal. Very difficult to find now though ...

Absolutely superb, considerably better than when it left Meriden, though very close to original by the look of it. Why does caffjohn think it should have Champion plug caps? Lodge were English and right in the period. Wish it was mine - wanna sell?

Hello Derek, this is an inspiring video. Well done on such a painstaking restoration. I was reading in an old motorcycle book, the developent and merits of the Tbird, how the factory took a big gamble on having three of them ridden to the circuit near Paris and given an endurance test....what if it had gone wrong, with mechanical issues etc. But what a success! They sound very usable and I feel inspired to trade in a coupe of 70's bikes and find a good example. THer is one on sale with the SU carbs and West coast handlebars. IT has a siamese 2 ito 1 exhaust which am told was an option . Have you any thoughts about that set up? Any other comments appreciated. This is a 53' year in black. eusred83 I meant, You were filming remote parts which the observer couldn't think in place fast enough. After all, she is an English Lady and I would very much like to see her run and hear her sound. I like the Classic British Bikes, I have got only two of them, too sad. compliment
