We maintain about 4 miles of trails on our place called Wildwood Tree Farm. In this video I use my 1954 Ford Jubilee tractor to mow some of the trails that are dedicated to wildflowers and pollinators during the last week of July 2023.

Enjoyed your video. I had similar trails on my 45 acres farm that I kept bush hogged/mowed. Sold it to a cousin a couple years ago. My grandfather and father bought an 8N the year I was born. But it was gone when I aquired that part of the farm so I bought a Ford 3910 new and had a 6' Hardee bush hog. I sure miss riding that tractor and mowing.

Thank you for watching and your lovely comments. One of my grandfathers had an 8N and the other grandfather had a Farmall Cub. I learned to drive on the Farmall Cub as the 8N was in too rough condition. I'm sure you miss those days. I've always found working with a tractor very therapeutic.

Hello...I enjoyed the video, really like the tractor...I have a chance to get one with a finish mower for $1800. ...it needs a rear rim...I think your video put me over the top of the mountain on my decision 👍

I am so jealous over that old tractor! If I had some where to put one, I would have one. Old tractors bring back memories of life on my Uncle's farm and learning to drive on a Massey Ferguson 35.

Looking at all that beautiful green in your place here in January makes me yearn for getting out this coming spring in the wild, the woods and my own garden! But , I'll be patient and take the seasons as they come. I stay inside, cook , eat and sleep a lot til then. ;-) Great adventure Ken! Thanks for sharing. Jake

I was raised on 400 acres. 170 was tillable. by the time I was 8 I was driving a Jubilee. Barely a day passed without using it for something....Thanks for the memories!! all that farm work made me hard worker my whole life. It's good to be retired now....

Thank you for watching and sharing your memories and taking the time to comment. Ditto, however, I started with a Farmall Cub when I was 8 years old. My other grandfather had an 8N. The Jubilee is a better tractor.

The Jubilee had a stronger hydraulics and the overiding clutch that let the pto and drivetrain operate separately... the other tractor we had was like that Cub, It was a A.C. wd, offset axel like the Cub@@kensshowtell

The Jubilee had live PTO and hydraulics which set it apart from all other tractors. Also, its 30HP rating was powerful given its size. However, it did not have an overriding clutch for the PTO, so the owner had to add it externally. I've added one on mine and the Woods Brush Bull has one internally. Belts and suspenders. @@lostbear53

Ken it looks like a 6foot mower from out here. Pretty landscape you have. Your equipment does a nice job.
@kensshowtell

Thank you for watching and your complement. It is a Brush Bull 60; therefore, it is a 5-foot rotary cutter. It is rated for at least a 25-HP tractor. The Jubilee is rated at 30HP so this is the largest rotary cutter a Jubilee should have. 6-foot cutter is too big. I think it looks larger because the Woods Mowing equipment is quite beefy.

Nice tractor. I had a T30 Massy, but sold it and bought a 601 Workmaster, used it awhile and bought a 1965 Ford 4000 diesel--rebuilt it looks almost new. It's a keeper love it Now my son bought a 1947 Ford 8n, I rebuilt hydraulics, brakes, electronic ignition conversion (A MUST DO!) , 6 volt to 12 conversion, governor, front end bushings and a few odds and ends, all but the engine and it runs great too. Old tractors are fun, now I am 70 and slowing down just a little. Would like to find a skid steer next. we'll see Good luck with yours.

Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment. I kept my Jubilee as 6-volt and converted the points to Pertronix Ignitor positive ground. I agree and highly recommend that change too. A skid steer will be a great project and extremely useful.

I wish those old galvanized gas cans were still available for purchase. My grandfather had one that he mixed outboard motor fuel in. I don’t know whatever happened to it.

Absolutely Beautiful Country you were driving in!! I have my very first full size tractor. I have had John Deere 317s for 35 years. I now have an identical tractor to yours. I want to own it for 35 more years as well. What idle speed to you have yours set to? Is that from the meter or did you verify the RPM with another meter? Mine sounds almost as good as yours. Mine seems to like 600 RPM indicated on the meter but not the 450 RPM my manual says. The original carb has been completely rebuilt. I am trying to keep it as original as possible.
@kensshowtell
@kensshowtell 2 ай бұрын
Thank you for watching and your very kind remarks. Well, I really don't have the idle set correctly as I just idle it down using the throttle and it likes around 500RPMs using the meter. I've never used a strobe (timing light) on it as I've kept it 6-volts. I set the timing by ear, and it is running the original carburetor that was professionally rebuilt about 35 years ago. It has and continues to be a very good and versatile machine. I converted the points to Pertronix years ago and kept it positive ground and 6-volts.
