I served in South Korea for a year (2005). Loved my experience. The older Koreans were very protective of the US servicemen, some explicitly helping me out when the younger Koreans at the subway stations would not help me with the money on my card (used for the subway). Most of the US servicemen I experienced there were respectful of being in someone else's home. I did see a young soldier who did not understand the metric system tell a Korean store owner, "That's stupid" when referring to the information on a box. I grimaced and shook my head. South Koreans are good, patient people.✌ Wow. If I were shooting bullets near my brothers-in-arms, I would absolutely shoot short first to prevent shooting near them or come at angles that my missed shots would move away from them. I would never try to drop unguided bombs on buildings a few meters from them.

Yup, they like americans. Experienced it when there on DETs in 1984. Did the DMZ tour as well. Seoul, Taegu, Osan and Pohang. EE Tay Won Street (sic), in Seoul, was the shopping Mecca then.

???? I would hope they would Respect being in another people's homeland, they are not Monster's, they are a very highly trained group of mainly young adults. But as American's there is one thing we all know and understand! No one on the Planet is Perfect and most of the time it takes a bad experience to learn how to make more good experiences! And for some dumb reason we do not teach our kids in School how to do simple math, they are not taught how to tell time on a non digital clock, they are not taught how to write in Cursive!!!! Stupid if you ask me but I do understand your thinking with the math... Specially in the military!!!

Back in the 80's I worked on a Grumman Tracker squadron, VC 851. The Trackers had twin Wright Cyclone engines and when we would do high power engine tests and wind those puppies up the tail would shake like nothing, the whole empennage would waggle like a ducks tail. The other thing that stuck in my head was the capacity of one cylinder was 202 cubic inches, which was the same as the standard GMH six cylinder car engine in Australia at the time. I think they ran 140/160 octane fuel, the point being VC 851 was one of the last piston engined squadrons and those engines were beastly MF's. And that was on a patrol aircraft.

I lived in SK for a while. South Koreans are always appreciative of what America (and later UN) did for pushing out the Japanese during WW2 as well as supporting them during the Korean War. Always warm, friendly and excited to talk about the Korean future they saw for themselves. In stark contrast, you can go up to the DMZ and see NK "exactly" as it was in 1953...... 70 years later and it really has barely progressed forward..... The only thing that would unite NK and SK is their strong mutual hate for the Japanese, what they did to the country in the 1920s and 1930s... unforgivable.

Not sure how to make suggestions but lots of RC-135s flying up North now. Like the Finns let one through airspace. I would suspect that several Valued Viewers might have worked on them. What about an RC-135 over the Black Sea or the Baltic Sea being defended by NATO? Spicy intercept by Russia?

The aspect of The Korean war that’s never mentioned in the press was how we (The Brits) fought it largely (but not exclusively) propeller powered - certainly in the earlier days of the war. The Russians flying their impressive MiG 15s were pretty much using our out-gunned fathers, sons and brothers as target practice. Where’s the controversy there? Well, the British Labour party gave - GAVE - Communist mass-murderer Stalin the jet engine! We were being shot down by modified Rolls Royce Nenes! The same Labour party had been making swathing defence cuts which slowed our own development of and transition to the jet age - despite inventing it. Even Stalin was startled enough by Labour’s generosity to comment “What fools would sell us their secrets?” - “Sell” he said as that was apparently Labour’s original intention - but of course not a penny was exchanged, it ended up a gift, a gift that cost many allied lives.

I posted this comment on your YF-23 Vs F-22 Video but I'm not sure if you saw it or not so I'm posting it here too, and my hope is that it will help you so that way you can gain some extra tips when working on the YF-23 Mod for DCS. 1. The YF-23's stealth signature was lower than the YF-22, how much lower is not really known by anyone, but it was said to be lower. (I'm aware you couldn't make it any lower, but if there's a way you could bypass it that would be awesome) 2. The speed of the YF-23 was MUCH faster than the YF-22 and even F-22. They never tested it to the fullest potential, but it was said that the plane could sustain supercruise at about Mach 1.7 3. The weapons bay on the *prototype* version was only able to carry about 6 missiles. (4 amraams, and 2 sidewinders) Although the Production varient was planned to be able to carry up to 10 missles. (4 sidewinders, and 6 amraams) 4. The menuverability of the YF-23 was almost the same as the YF-22, only being a few degrees lower at slower speeds. (And I personally feel like it had better menuverability at *higher* speeds just because of the massive ruddervaders on the rear of the aircraft) 5. I'm not really sure if this matters in DCS, but the YF-23 Likely had better avionics than the YF-22, because of the more unusual design, it had to be able to fly smoothly, and steadily. And listening to Paul Metz talk about it, he said it handled pretty much the exact same as the F-22, and was just a very small bit better when it came to handling quality. I hope this helps you when making the YF-23 Mod, and I can't wait to see it finished. :)

Always wondered witch is best between 50cal vs 20mm on aircraft?
@elitebuster2012
@elitebuster2012 Жыл бұрын
In WWII-era/immediate post war era, 20mm hits harder, but has worse ballistics and flies slower, while .50 cal fires faster, can load more ammo, and the gun utself is lighter and smaller so you can have more. Conventional wisdom at the time was that cannon were better versus bombers and ground targets, hence why the MiG-15 carried them so they could intercept bombers and tear them to pieces with a few heavy shots, but that the .50 cal was better as a pure air-to-air weapon, since a target as small, nimble, and comparatively fragile as a fighter was likely as not to take fatal damage from the smaller round anyways but was far more difficult to put the rounds into reliably, so carrying more ammo was more important. Also consider that tge .50 cal was already a considerablw upgrade compared to the 8mm or .30 cal MGs that most nations started WWII with, with the M2 Browning considered a heavy machine gun when used by ground forces. It wasn’t until the jet age really started rolling that higher velocity and high fire rate cannon were developed that would be far more effective ballisticaly, and which would allow the new generations of supersonic jets to engage in gunfights at the speeds and angles they were capable of pulling.

SuhhWheeet I never noticed the flames coming out of the Mosi's exhaust before. Damn I love that sound! I made a passing P-51D Mustang my ringtone! Yeah, on a serious note, the amount of Allied forces that were in theater vs the amount that came out is mismatched bigtime. Some KIA, many, many MIA/POW's. Same with the Vietnam war. Yes, war, do NOT call it a "limited policing action" or "low intensity conflict" or whatever soft political jargon they use to minimize what it was. When you send men and women into combat, the other countries do the same, that is war. I love these sort of campaigns. Much more than the USN vs Star Wars Empire. Those are fun and quirky, but to me DCS was made for these kind of missions! And GR does it better than anyone!
