What's even more special about this video than the truck itself is all the preserved memories of you guys and your dad. The truck itself is just the glue that helps preserve that priceless bond. I just purchased a '57 3200 to make similar memories with my three boys.

Literally every kid drifted their big wheel 😂 that was the whole point of that brake! Beautiful truck, I just bought a 54 that was in the same family for all of its 70 years. So many great stories and knowing it’s history from a first-hand telling makes it that much more special. Thanks so much for making this video and sharing all these great memories. I am getting a lot of great ideas for mine from what your dad has done with his.

Lovely truck - awesome color and fit and finish! Some info: Rear axle ratio: 3.90 Juniper Green was the color on ‘54; the hub caps were painted blue in the center from the factory 6ply - 16” tires were just over 30” tall, which allows you to run 55 … pushing it at 65

Yeah I believe that was the original color of the truck!

I have a 54 snd swapped in 3:55 gears in the rear end. Makes highway speed better but I tend to avoid them.

The year I was born (1954). Got my Dad's hand me down 61 Chev Impala. 235 three on the tree, my first car. My Dad would slap me on the head too. Lol! I'm glad I was from that era.

I hope your kids have the same passion for that truck that you do! It’s incredible to hear the history behind it and see that with the restoration, it was kept as close to original as possible. I can’t stand when people put air bags in those trucks and drop the fenders right to the ground. Great work! Beautiful truck!

Your truck presents a huge challenge to car thrifts: stomp starter and 3 on the tree rules!

I Love this beautiful truck!! This is my favorite truck body style hands down. Do you know what color of Red that the paint is? I Love the "54" on the rear of the bed rails!!

Appreciate it! I’m not sure what the exact color is since we did it back in 97. But I can try to find out .

@@dougnorton5143 correct 👍 but I think there was a time where the state required it. Then of course vehicles 75 and older were exempt.

@@FugitiveVette Sorry, didn't mean to sound insulting. My dad had one of those too! Kinda of like a baby blue but maybe a little darker. We never figured out exactly what year it was, but it was a 5 window and I remember him changing the battery by pulling up the hatch on the passenger floor. Thought that was so cool.
