1955 , 1956 , 1957 Chevrolet hood hinge repair. Tighten up those sloppy originals

If you're going to reuse original hood hinges, tighten up the pivot joints first.

Thats a good quick way to tighten them up somewhat & your bushing idea is really the best idea for the DIY guy. I actually took mine apart around 2015 and turned 10 new rivets at my job Im retired now. Some holes in the parts also had to be welded and redrilled maybe half of them like those top pieces on yours very loose. We were lucky had a pneumatic squeeze and they were put back together. I mention it in one of my car videos.Anyhoo good video .... Glenn

put the welder on it in the middle till the pin gets orange then smack em with a hammer and they will expand in the hole simply grind off the weld done deal

Interesting idea "holes" will be oblong though. Sure save a man a lot of machining new pins and redrilling holes. Thanks. Sure worth experimenting.
