Thanks? The owner was the third person on the family to own the truck. His grandfather got it for Christmas, then handed it down to his son, then he handed it down to his son, who is the current owner. He wanted it restored, to give it back to his father at Christmas. There is a video of that on my channel.

very nice work, but I've come to expect that. I remember Gambles stores. Here's a little info I dug up for those that would not know about Gambles: 1925 - 1982 Gamble-Skogmo Inc. was a conglomerate of retail chains and other businesses that was headquartered in St. Louis Park, Minnesota.From the mid-1940s to the end of the 1970s, Gamble and Skogmo diversified their businesses into many new endeavors, including a discount division, financial services, real estate, and retail businesses such as Aldens mail order company, Womans World Shops, Red Owl Grocery and Snyder Drug stores.In 1980, it was sold to the Wickes Corporation of California. The purchase was highly leveraged, the combined companies struggled, and in 1982 Wickes filed for bankruptcy.

Wow, a toy that managed to stay in the same family for 65 years and through 3 generations is impressive. Toys tend to get lost, traded or sold in garage sales so this toy must have been really special to the family. I'd love to know how the grandfather reacted.
@RustyShepherd4 жыл бұрын
It’s actually going back to the father of the current owner. I don’t know if the grandfather is still with us. The son said he would video his dads reaction and Christmas and send it to me.

Funny you should say that. I asked the owner that very question. I suggested that we save his scratched in name from when he was a kid. He was adamant that it be as original as if it came out of the box. He wants his father to get it back like new. RS

So Rusty got an idea for you: my Uncle Vincent "Jimmy" had a 1939 DODGE pick up much like the truck you have here. It was a burgundy red that he would go around on garbage day and pick through the trash and find things to fix up. Mostly bicycle items. He would fix them paint them and sell them in my family's brick and mortar store on Staten Island N.Y., it had his name and phone number on the doors. He had a search lite so he could see things in the trash better. If your interested in making a version for your collection let me know. I will give you the information you might like. Even the licence plate number.
