Great classic Ford! Believe it or not, I bought my second car, a 1956 Ford Sunliner in 1966. It was green and white with a black top. I mounted an 8 inch speaker in a baffle and had it wedged in the center between the floor and the dash. Two classic songs around this time, Poor Side of Town, Johnny Rivers and Good Vibrations the Beach Boys, Here's the kicker, the price tag was $50 dollars! I still dream of this gem in 2021..............

I know you like original or restored cars Lou, but I still remember a Rod and Custom magazine way back in the day (late 60's early 70's)... where they showed how to craft 1966 Buick Rivera retracting headlight into a '55 - '56 ford. I looked out of this world with those, a rolled lower pan, and a 50's Corvette grill. The reason for picking that particular car was the pointed-top front fenders matched up perfect with the point of the Rivera's light buckets. And of course in rear were, as you mentioned in the 1960 300F video, 1960 Chrysler "boomerang" taillights standing straight up and down, since again they matched the pointed-top rear fenders. My favorite Ford's were the '55 - ''56, '57 especially, the '61, the '63 especially, and the '65. After that, just too big and bulky. When I was about 18, and was into fancy cars with BIG engines, my dad told me he had a 1957 Ford Del Rio 2-door Ranch Wagon station wagon. He wanted something a little fancier, so it had the Thunderbird 312, automatic, PS, and PB. It was a real lemon, so from then on through 1969, it was six cylinder, stick, and just two speed wipers. My mom put her foot down finally and said if he didn't get the new car with an automatic and power steering... HE could run me and my sister around everywhere! I was like... a '57 two door wagon... and you sold it???!!! Do you have any idea how much I would love to have that car now??? I wouldn't talk to him for a week!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A beaut! Love it! I too was born in ‘56. I already told you about the 56 Ford Customline my father had in another 56 Ford video. The brochure showing all the different models was great to see. Amazing how Ford stretched a buck onto all those different models, not only that but they also used the same for the Meteor from Mercury they sold in Canada. The green interior Customline picture was identical to the old mans 56. As I looked at the paused video of the interior I started to recall some of the back seat items, the ashtray in the top middle backside of the front seat, the door pillar base, and take a look at how the door panel design flows from the front right into the rear door. Cheers🥂🇨🇦🍻🇨🇦👍....edit....just saw the date printed under the hood, March 23, 1956! I was born on the 22nd👍

Hi, Lou! Top down with a Lifeguard! The Lifeguard Design included a dished steering wheel with recessed hub and horn ring to help reduce the possibility of chest injury in a frontal crash, the double-grip door latches that you showed us, which helped keep doors from springing open on impact, hooded instrument panels and pivoting shatterproof mirrors. As options you could also get seat belts, a padded dash and padded sun visors. BTW, Lee Iacocca was a Ford salesman at the time, and he came up with a novel idea. He put small bags of potato chips on car windshields with this message: "The chips are down. Wujatake $XXX for your car? We're selling '56 Fords for $56 a month!" LOL! Glad you and Dennis got to enjoy your day in the sun with this beauty!

I definitely remeber the 56 as being good , smooth driver and fairly Poweeful, even with automatic…..I put quite a few miles on Vehicle showing Friends, & Cruising ( esp through TOWNS, Drive in Restaurants, etc, ). There is something special about the 56 FOrds: also, many of the Wagons were great, and FORD really DONE a Great Job on the **1957’s,( esp INTERCEPTOR, Police, F-Code, TBIRDSj)..!! …

Another Dennis draw-dropping classic! The '55 and '56 Ford's were another one of the most perfectly designed American cars. Ford stylists hit it out of the park in those years. The debate as to which year is best is a very tough one. I used to say the '56, but I do feel the '55 model was a tad cleaner. The see-through speedo and circular radio is really unique too. The '56 does have a little more "bling" though. Both are elegant and gorgeous.

How did I miss this Lou? WHat an Example of a top Ford model. 55-57 Chevys get all the praise. But in 1955 -1957 Ford had some very Attractive offerings. I think the ‘55 and ‘56 look better then the Chevy in top models. In 1957 with Fury, Dodge, Chevy, and the New Ford which out sold Chevy and Mopar makes you think there where many choices of New Models. and 1957 Chevy was a carry over but disguised as a new Model. Interesting.
