Surely a status symbol for those who could afford this in 1956. A great personal luxury car like this could not go unnoticed. Thankfully so many great cars from all eras of automobile history remain today for people to see and wonder at. I just got a look at the 2025 CADDILAC and OH MY GOODNESS...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey, Roger! This car went about as far as possible to spotlight innovation in 1956! I checked out the 2025 Escalade...a mobile electronic communications device! WOW! Thanks! :) Jack

Lincolns for 1956 are very impressive as you say. They compared well among the other three very attractive luxury cars of the time Cadillac, Packard , Imperial.

It was what Lincoln needed to do to remain competitive. The long, low look was captivating, and this car, with its black finish is doubly so! Thanks! :) Jack

Really well styled. Lincoln really did it right.

They sure got it right! Hard to believe that the car of the preceding model year didn't have a wraparound windshield when almost everyone else did! This car took care of that, and so much more! Lincoln was now a serious contender! Thanks! :) Jack

That hood ornament is awesome! Haven't seen one like that before!

Hey, guys! I have one of those ornaments....I have a COLLECTION, of course! :D It was symbolic of "the big M" which Mercury used in its ads. Notice the golden M in the grille! Thanks! :) Jack

Hey, Gene! Just imagine the splash this car made when brand new....so modern, and it had A/C! Glad you saw it on Gateway too! Thanks! :) Jack

Imo, the 1956 Lincoln is one of the most elegant cars of the fifties. I have a 1:24 diecast coupe model in Island Coral which features those a/c tubes in the rear window!

Hey, Jim! It certainly was a seismic shift from the preceding model! Longer, lower, everything was more contemporary. Glad you have that model of it, and that's amazing detail to include the a/c tubes! Thanks! :) Jack

I could never understand why the vents didn't run through the roof, such as the Mark II.

Hey, Steve! I can only imagine that it was a matter of cost. The Mark II was one of the most expensive cars ever built at the time....this Lincoln had to come in at a lower price, methinks. Thanks! :) Jack
