This is a terrific example of the stylish and iconic 1956 Studebaker Golden Hawk that has been lovingly cared for by its owner for the past 51 years. With 68,067 original miles and having lived in the Washington and Arizona, this is a rust free Golden Hawk that has been restored as needed over the years. Today, it is a wonderful driving Golden Hawk that can be shown at regional car shows and used as desired for touring. We love the timeless space-age look of the Golden Hawks!!
The livery is finished in a stunning two-tone Snowcap White contrasted with Midnight Black. The paint is in overall very nice condition with excellent shine and finish. There are a few small touched up areas, mainly around the hood from normal use. There are no dents or scratches and the chrome and stainless are in overall excellent condition. If you look very close, a couple of the plastic Studebaker badges have light cracking, as per the photo gallery. Overall, the exterior of the Studebaker is in show-ready condition.
The interior is finished in a sharp and sporty white and gray vinyl with silver piping. It is in very nice condition without tears or other issues. The black carpeting is also in excellent condition. The engine turned dash and aeronautical instruments are very clear and in nice condition, only the steering wheel has a couple of small cracks from age. Overall, the interior looks great!
The engine compartment is in show condition today. The venerable Packard 352 CID V8 offered a stunning 275 hp on a relatively light body, making it what some people call the first muscle car. It was, however, one of the fastest cars of its day. The three-speed automatic shifts well and makes it a pleasure to drive.
The late owner acquired this Studebaker in December 1980 while he lived in Washington. He was a fairly well known collector and this was one of his favorites. By October 1994, he moved from Bainbridge Island, WA to Arizona. By 1994, it had accumulated a mere 67,193 miles. Today, the Studebaker has 68,067 miles from new.
On our website, we have published the 154-point inspection report. We found that the reverse lights are non-operational, but most everything else is in great shape and working well.
The Studebaker Golden Hawk is one of the top of the line offerings for sporty grand touring motorcars. With only 4,071 made, they are rare today. Especially with the provenance of 51 years of ownership and 68,000 miles that this offers. The Hagerty Value Guide shows a No. 2 example as being worth $41,000. We have this fairly priced to sell quickly.
