Unloaded from our transporter this morning is this rather special Jaguar XK150 Fixed Head Coupe. The XK150 was the last in the line of Jaguar Sports cars built on a separate chassis. The legendary six cylinder twin-cam 3.4 litre engine was first revealed in the sensational XK120 of 1948. To many, the original Moss gearbox with it's non-synchro first gear, often exhibiting weak synchros on the rest is a bit of an anachronism. Later all Synchro gearboxes, mated to the XK engines from the mid 1960s were much more refined.
This car benefits from an all-synchro gearbox with overdrive on top gear. This and the precise rack and pinion steering collectively transform the drive of this iconic sports car.
Having driven dozens of XKs, the youngest of which are now 60 yeas=rs old, they all vary. This would rank in the top two or three I've driven during my 40 years of selling Jaguar cars. This one's a peach which will be a pleasure to own and drive.
