Don’t think I’ve ever seen one that color before but I really like it. Don’t care for the fender skirts or that Continental Kit but others probably do! Too nice to drive, really. Turboglide?

Probably , one of the " nicest " '58 Impalas in existence ! Cost ? That's for the wealthy class . I remember when you could buy these vehicles " unrestored " for just a few hundred dollars back in the late sixties . My how times have changed !!! Mark E. Greg very nice BUT could be better, Pass side trim needs better alignment , both front fenders missing the small insert pc., the steering wheel not painted correctly - should be two tone, the door panels not correctly done. Oh it's a turbo glide, not power glide by the indicator plastic in dash , the door mirrors never seen on doors only on fenders. I have the same mirrors on my Brookwood, 58 door mirrors are a little different. The color looks to be Cashmere Blue 910 on the firewall tag. Inner fenders are black also. Other than that a very nice example. Mine has original 55,000 miles on the clock, a true California car, not just the bumpers, but built in Los Angeles, CA. has ( VN ) on firewall tag and ( L ) on the VIN tag. Color of mine is - 963 - Arctic White/Tropic Turquoise.

Back in 1976 in Iran I had an Impala as a company car. Most awful car I ever drove. Fast in a straight line but It had no idea when it came to a corner. Suspension so soft it went wherever the road surface dictated. As for brakes. I'm not sure it had any. Even worse it was pink in colour. American cars at their worst.

Sounds like you had a bad or poorly maintained car. Calling the 1958 Chevy Impala "American cars at their worst" is just objectively a false statement.
