Emotional! I was in awe that you rescued the car in the first place in your prior video; it really looked promising. It's of course sad to see it so far gone, but it is what it is, as they say, and you're the one who has to make the keep/toss decision. It's hard to imagine a car from 1958 still with a flathead 6 (OK, OK, Rambler Americans still had them even into the early 60's, but that's a Rambler) I know you wanted it to be repairable and you gave it a good shot. Nice video!

I remember as a kid up on a back Mountain Road where my grandparents had a little summerhome, one time there was one of these lying on its side over an embankment. My father stopped to help the people out and they were drunker than skunks that's my first experience with a Plymouth of this year. Then also I had a little red plastic Plymouth station wagon with a yellow plastic interior which I still have it's about 12 in long and I used to love that as a child and way before Christine came out I was aware of the 57, 58 Plymouth's . I'm 56 now. Time to get in the closet, and find my old plastic stationwagon. People have offered to buy it, but it's to cool to sell. incidentally it was made before I was born in '62, and my father brought it home, and gave it to me. I think it was my Uncle Randy's.

Far Gone! Concidering where you got it, and what it was, and how long it's been there. I say you found a Gem. Most cars you find of that era at the scrap yard are literally trashed and dead inside. From the photos that car was in lovely shape inside. Good enough to be restored! Seats, dash, stearing wheel, windows was still in it! and I've seen some pretty "Far Gone" Fairlane's that would make that one look show room quality. DUDE! Smh WoW..and the motor was still in it! Wow you should've sat on it. The right buyer would have taken her and brung her back to life. You took her from the grave just to part her out! 😳 You have to have funds for such a car to bring it back. Duct tape, 9 16ths, rigged fuel line and bondo won't cut it. My old man would've given you 3 grand for that car! EASY! Cash! And it was factory red too! You don't know what you had..the diva of all movie cars! Smh

I would rebuild the 1958 Plymouth Beldevere with customized reinforcement to the cabin, floor, doors, pillars, panels and roof. Then substitute the straight steering column with a Mopar compatible safety steering system. Add disc power brakes, seat belts and air bags (all Mopar).. The result will be an all Mopar safety equipped classic with higher value and durability.

When I was a kid Pops bought a brand new '57 Custom Suburban in Chicago with special paint and the front bumper wingettes (the one in video here doesn't have 'em) and let me tell you that was the coolest wagon or car on the block compared to all the boxy old GMs and Fords. True story - not TOO many years later - I'd say '63 or so after it facing a couple Chicago winters and then New England winters the infamous rust took over I remember the back seat dropping through the floor !!!! Ignominious end for such cool looking cars. 🚗

In the vilage next to us was a Mercedes Hearse (/8) from end 60`s or early 70`s for sale. They `ve been special cars and verry verry rarly becouse Mercedes Benz didn`t build Station wagon in that time. (Just started in the 80`s) But the Car was in the same Condition like your Fury. No way to restore. I wouldnt drive with an hearse anyway, it`s something for Gothics😁 but Mercedes also had some for Ambulance. That would be more nice.

Was it a Fury? In the movie Christine is supposed to be a Fury but in reality she shows Belvedere trim. Furys in 1958 were only available in Buckskin Beige and all had gold anodized trim, not silver. So this one looks like a Belvedere or even a Savoy. Both were available as a 2 door hardtop...

Even though the car was complete doesn't mean it was a good condition, the car was not structurally sound. The car had a ton of frame, floor, and suspension rot. The only reason that car still had all the parts on it is because it was in a private spot of a junkyard where nobody could go to take parts off of it.
