Always surprised to see a Twenty one with the full "Bathtub" still atached... When I had one back at the start of the seventies that was the first thing to dissapear over the hedge when you bought one. Everyone wanted to make them look like the more desirable and more expensive T90..

A very nice bike.so is it a six volt with a 8 volt battery? Looks like it had four cells.

What is the purpose of the 'emergency position' on the ignition switch?

It's for starting the motorcycle with a flat battery

It effectively gives all the output of the alternator to the ignition circuit.
