Byrum Fred "By" Saam, Jr. (September 11, 1914 - January 16, 2000) was an American sportscaster. He was best known as the first full-time voice of baseball in Philadelphia.
This series features the following Hall of Famers:
Dodgers: Walt Alston (mgr.), Don Drysdale, Sandy Koufax, Duke Snider.
White Sox: Al Lopez (mgr.), Luis Aparicio, Nellie Fox, Early Wynn.

When I lived in Pittston, Pennsylvania back in the 1980s, there was an older friend of mine who told me that the main guy for the Phillies, before Harry Kallas, was By Saam. He kind of indicated that Saam was lousy. Now that I've finally heard Saam, though, I'd have to say that, boy, do I disagree with him! Saam was GREAT!
