In this episode, George describes a one-of-a-kind custom ordered guitar built by John D'Angelico between December 1958 and January 1959 for Henry D. "Homer" Haynes.
From his Wikipedia page, Henry Doyle "Homer" Haynes (July 27, 1920 - August 7, 1971) was an American comedy entertainer and musician who gained fame on radio and television as a country and jazz guitarist and as the character Homer of the country music comedy and parody duo Homer and Jethro with Kenneth C. Burns for 35 years beginning in 1936.
This guitar, as George describes, is truly the PINNACLE of what a "Super Rare & Vintage Jazz Guitar" is in today's vintage guitar market!
As George discusses and reads, during the Episode, the guitar has the original letters of when John D'Angelico corresponded with Mr. Haynes - prior to construction - and, after the guitar was successfully built & was ready for delivery to its' new owner!
And, George - at the very end of the clip - gives us his insight to just how difficult it is to define what exactly a "guitar" truly is!
Take it Away, George & We Hope Everyone Enjoys the Story Behind this Iconic & Super-Rare Custom Jazz Guitar!
Sincerely & Stay Tuned for Much More to Come,
