Hey, We're back with Part 6 of the Plymouth Fury project... More bodywork this time, as we cut up another parts car to splice the back of it into the hardtop to replace the bent and rusty tail...

Probably the best example of automotive recycling I’ve ever seen. Really nice to see that Fury saved instead of being melted down to build another soulless blob of a modern car.

THE SPLICE GIRLS! 😆 🤣 😂 great work guys, the finished product is fantastic. I love it when people take a neglected "pos" or 2 or 3..and turn them into a thing of beauty 😍 Financially sound use of your energy? ...alot better than being locked to a screen. You have something amazing and a sense of pride to show for your time and dedication and that's worth more than a big stack of cash!

Splicing a splice is a good move to eliminate a ton of metal re-fab on the old rust bucket. Doing a great job.

So as I said in another recent comment I had to go back and watch the playlist of the 60 Fury work. Just to appreciate even more the outcome of that beautiful blue classic. This playlist could be telling for a would-be preservationist. It's a pretty fascinating progression of the end vision of "it's just a driver" to what is the ultimate outcome. The Splice Strikes Back is the movie hall marque in lights. This is an extreme rescue of that classic design 2-door. It shows what planning, vision, research, hunting, perseverance, pure grunt work (drilling out welds), help, luck (laboring under correct knowledge), patience, help from generous donors, and so many more things are involved in the preservation of a machine that would have soon been too far gone. Scott is commended for accomplishing this pretty amazing transformation. Cheers.

I love the cardboard ( I mean corrugated paper product, please use the correct terminology..right?) quarter windows. What a magnificent car! Back when I was still in grade school (96 students total) our pretty new teacher drove one of these to school. Blue and white and chrome, I couldn’t take my eyes off it. She parked in the teacher’s lot which held about 4 or 5 cars and I’d sneak around when I could get away with it to marvel from a distance at this big blue juke box. One day it snowed and she left the car parked where it was. Living close to the school I stole back to look in the windows. Unbelievable! I don’t know how long I stood and stared . I’ve never forgotten that car and have a special spot for 60 Fury’s . “When too much isn’t enough”, bring on the chrome! Bring on the bling!

@Leonard Carr Hey Kiwi!!! Nah, we don't have your Falcons here in Argentina. The only model manufactured here was what you know there as the XK from the 60s (the very first one), and it was manufactured here with the same body (with minor changes) up until 1991! We never knew other Falcon models. Hell! If it wasn't for the Aussie Supercars, I would have never find out that the Falcon was still being manufactured AND upgraded! This was the last Falcon out of the factory here in Argentina: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gKHdmIywlrmrhZY

I'd once read that Virgil Exner was quite the taskmaster.... Damn near 60 years later, and 45+ years after his passing, his 'curse' continues! I visit Arthur Tussik for the collision work, and coldwarmotors for the rest of my automotive needs. My family was in the body shop business for 80 years, and my 'darn near 90 y/o' uncles visit every few weeks to 'watch their Canadian counterparts'. That 'nearly complete sub-assembly' marriage, has had them talking nonstop since Sunday dinner!

The Resplicening seems to be a great success and, as you said, it's going to save hundreds of hours of remaking and straightening, even if the replacement parts have a little damage. It's coming together well, even if we don't necessarily see the hours and hours of fettling, trimming, adjusting and modifying that goes on between each video. It really is starting to look like a car again, and having it drive for the first time as a Fury must be a nice pick-me-up as the weather turns cold and icy...

I'm just amazed that parts cars can still be readily sourced, considering the steel from those has long since seen it's second or third pass thru some Asian appliance factory by now.
