Thanks, Waylon. Now I've got something else to look out for when I'm at the wrecking yard... I'm seeing a '48 Chevy 1 1/2t built into a rat tow truck, with this for power, a 5-speed transmission and a 2-speed rear-end geared short... If I had money, I'd be broke real quick...

Have an elderly friend (81 at time of build) that built a rat rod using one of those. Suburban chassis, model A pickup bed and Allison transmission. Can't recall the cab but he built a custom fuel delivery system and had to fabricate an adapter plate for the bell housing. Estimated top speed of 65 MPH. Must say I was excited when this video popped up. Well done sir.

Worked on these powerplants in COE GM fleet, lots of adventures. Try starting one that's run out of fuel: wild. Recommend putting the flame arresters back in place before hitting the key. Torque monsters. We had 12-71s in the fleet as well; 4 MPG, with a loaded trailer, mostly 48' in the day

Wanted to Hot Rod one for Fun...but the Boss was all business....I can only imagine how much power it would make with 10 to 1 Compression....Custom ground Camshaft...and 2 big Holly 4bbl Carbs....Factory comp ratio I believe was 7 to 1....its gonna make a cool Rat Rod....👍🇺🇸
