Among the names that ran this race….Lee Petty (7th),Joe Weatherly (8th), Bobby Johns (9th), DONNIE ALLISON (15th), Wally Dallenbach (24th), Red Farmer (39th), Wendell Scott (45th), and Ralph Earnhardt who finished 67th after being involved in the BIG(GEST) one..

Seeing the construction build of the cars in this race, I'm reminded of another YT posting of a early era NASCAR Modified-Sportsman Race, where the commenter wrote the cars appeared to be Frankenstein creations.

Wendell Scott was involved in the 2 largest pileups in NASCAR history…..THIS race….and the one that ended his career at Talledega. How’s THAT for a nascar trivia question and answer

I counted roughly 25 cars stopped. Add that to the 37 cars involved in the wreck and we're looking at at least a 62 car field! This is what prosperity looks like folks. Or how America functions without government intervention. Edit: make that a 68 car field. Good times for sure
@almostfm11 ай бұрын
Funny that you say it's "how America functions without government intervention" when it was at the end of Eisenhower's second term, when Federal spending had nearly doubled during his time in office-most of that increase being infrastructure spending.
