Most reliable Motorcycle under 600 cc most of the time. Above that and Yamaha will usually kick their ass. The VMAX was far better than the Magna and the R1 is still outrunning the CBR 1000. Not to mention Honda’s cruisers are a joke.

I've always had a soft spot for Honda, I had a c70 when I was 12 and have many happy memories of weekends and evenings spent on the fields! so much so I have one now mainly for nostalgia 33 years later.

It's great to look at honda back then,Iv'e had lots of honda motorcycles over the last 45 years.I especially liked the 1960's / 70's bikes,i think they had unique styling and were a joy to work on.In fact my present bike is a 1975 cb500/4 which i love.I wish i could have kept all the honda's i owned.

I've had loads of hondas over the years c50s 70s and 90s I used to pick them up for 50quid 30 years ago I've just bought a 1980 fully restored c70 in aquarius blue lovely bike cost me 1800 quid they've shot up in value.

Honda San (Soichiro Honda) was obviously a dyed in the wool, hands on manufacturing man who knew everything about the products he produced. These days the top CEOs of corporations are financial men who know nothing about manufacturing or the products they are producing. (with just a few exceptions: Ducati is one).

Very cool video, although the music seems odd and disturbing at times in a trippy sixties kind of way. From the looks of the video, this outfit really had its act together and it's no wonder they were so enormously successful. We could use some of that here in the USA.

Surely they tested the original push-rod 50cc to determine at just what rpm it would float the valves and bend the pushrods..!? (Little inside period mechanic joke), they were all quite remarkable and dependable.

I would say my CA200, but that is a '64. Though I do like to think that Soichiro Honda himself, visiting the Yamato (now Wako) factory in Saitama, looked upon the day's production and looked at my bike.
Early Hondas were not perfect...re; 4 speed transmission on the cb72 cb 77 wasn't the best, neither the auto advance unit. nor the early chain driven primary with out the tensioner. The cylinder liners were known to weep oil being prone to movement. You cant lift the top cover off the motor unless you take it out of the frame, but other than that, they're a well built little machine, the brakes are awesome better than that crap front disc on the cb750 and the rear chain (one of five chains on the cb72/77) is the same size and links of that on an FLH Harley, and all with an electric start

One thing .honda rust bought a cb550 mototorcycle exhaust lasted 2 years fell apart mudguards same great engine .we're my bsa is 55 years old and is solid no rot and yes it gets used in all weather British built to last Japanese is not .

Without decrying the efforts of Japanese industry. We should still consider that it was American money and backing, that went into the birth and building renewal after WW2. The U.S.A. was looking to undermine their own workers with a foreign workforce. That after the complete destruction of their economy, the Japanese were willing to bring their work ethic in rebuilding the economy of their country. The workers were paid very little. Much like China today. The workers put in many hours, to prove they were "worthy" of being employed. While this paragraph is a simplistic view of what they bought to the table. The fact that wealthy american businesses and the investment from american taxpayers, was behind much of the Japanese manufacturers success. ... Just making a point here.

@@RinoaL It was either nuke em’ or invade ‘em. Otherwise they wouldn’t surrender. Nuking them costed no American lives, whereas invading Japan was estimated to cost tens of thousands of American lives. Those were the options, and we picked the right one. So it wasn’t “a bit of a draw really”.

What a shame that the Brits, one of whom narrated this along with, presumably, others, didn't take the notes they should have and learned a bunch of stuff. There might well be MGs, Triumphs and lots of other cars running, instead of rusting or waiting for parts. Or in museums.

I am in the post production process and was wondering if it might be possible to use this footage in my documentary. I have an interviewee discussing Japan’s “economic miracle” and industrial production in the 1960s and would love to have this footage as a background for the audio. The vast numbers(people, equipment, and production) from the quality of the finished product to the MASS production, REMEMBER, we're talking about the '60s, in my opinion Honda was FAR ahead of it's time and WAY ahead of the American two wheeled products!!! And I don't even like them!

Harley was thinking of building cars in the 60s. They were three wheeled I think. They also were seriously considering making an all new inline 4 air cooled motorcycle around 1964-1965. (Would have taken the world by storm assuming they didn’t fuck it up) Unfortunately, they canceled their 4 cylinder project and as a result we’re eaten alive by Honda. Too bad since they had a few prototypes, but unfortunately they were all destroyed and almost nobody knows about these bikes that were way ahead of their time.

NO FAT LAZY UNION WORKERS THERE DEMANDING MORE....HONDA took care of its workers from day one and their products speak for it.....long lasting even to this day.
