What was done:
My father in law gave this antique Kolibri 75 air compressor to me as a present. I restored the complete air compressor, I changed every bearing but NOT the crankshaft bearings, since i couldnt press them out. The condition was still good.
I replaced all the grease nipples, plotted every gasket new and replaced every copper sealing ring.
The compressor was painted in an exclusive mixed 2K color.
The other parts were painted in a "universal" rim silver.

I forgot to say, I got a box of those special rivets for the name plates on machines from Aliexpress. Look for - Button Round Head Knurled Solid Rivets. They took me ages to find and they have all sorts of names but that should take you to them on that site and they’re not expensive. Cheers

That was a tremendous amount of work just to air up one old bike tire. I didn't like the color until it was all assembled, but once again your future-seeing eye was better than mine. Nice restoration.

Nice work but I have few tips. 16:15 Red heat resistant gasket on cylinder head is 99% made from asbestos. Soak it with oil or WD40 to prevent fibers contaminating air and scrape it instead of grind it. 30:45. This device has conductive metal housing and definitely should use 3 wire plug with protecting ground wire. With old insulation is very dangerous. 23:15 Soak air filter material with few drops of oil. Small dust particles sticks to oily filter instead pass through when filter is dry. Its very effective.

Agree Martin. Excellent work overall although…Definitely should be earthed. Worth saying it would’ve been nice to take a few minutes to file the jagged edges on the base smooth, and the copper washer on the drain valve ended up too deformed. Absolutely love the olive colour too

You are wrong about the oiling the air filter part. The oil will clough the air filter pretty fast,making it harder for the compressor to draw air! I dare you to do that with any air filter(let's say your car air filter) and see what happens in time!

@@Atelierul29 Iam not wrong. If oil soaked filter is clogged it means it works. If you dont want clogged filter, just dont use filter. If you want long lasting equipment, apply oil on sponge filter and wash it regularly. Without oil, sponge filter acts like a screen separating bigger particles. Original Briggs mower small engines which has sponge filter comes with thick oil applied on sponge. All automotive sport filters are impregnated with special oil to catch dirt an you can clean them in soapy water, dry them and apply oil again. Lot of older tractors, small tillers, mowers has oil soaked steel wool with small oil reservoir as air filter. Oiling filter is common method. Never put oil on paper filter.

I also believe the fan that you put on the rotor was put on backwards typically you want the veins of the fan facing the coils of the rotor might still work just fine for cooling but just a tip

En fait si on met un cable 3 conducteurs pour relier la terre au socle de l'appareil ca ne suffira pas a proteger l'appareil en totalite, il faudrait egalement creer des tresses de masse entre chaque element métallique car la plupart sont relier entre eux par des joints qui ne sont pas conducteur. Donc seul le socle serait a la terre. Ensuite ce n'est pas vraiment grave si l'installation est équipé d'un interrupteur differentiel.

A wonderful Restoration Job on a beautiful classic machine. I have two remarks on the electrical side: you should crimp wires by a specific crimp tool which keeps the wires significantly better. The 2-wire connection cord is incompliant with the requirements for a metal-housing electrical device. A 3-wire cord (with a PE-wire connected to the metal housing) would be the proper use.

I recently got into watching Restoration Videos, and it's really been fascinating seeing who had what equipment, levels of depicted cleansing ("let's get rid of all that imperfections!" versus "eh, no one will see it, so as long as it's not greasy"), commentaries, spray paint versus powder coating, etc. Your buddy, Dr. Beer, is a living timeline of when his workshop gets new toys. What's really interesting is that so far, I've only seen one American guy show lead paint testing as part of his video. I thought it was really neat that you mentioned the late tests, and then stripped paint regardless for safety precautions.

21:19 Split-ring lock washers are now proven to be a liability in keeping threaded fasteners from working loose. You used some blue (Loctite) in any case. Always impressed that you remember where each bit goes back in.

For older machines, the gaskets could (probably do) contain asbestos. You might want to consider keeping them oiled so no loose part flies off (and gets in your lungs) and never wheel brush any of them off...

wow. what a restoration. I remember you asking about the restoration job a few weeks ago - I absolutely love the result. I noticed that you missed some over the top details that you usually do, like cleaning up interior surfaces or using putty on pitted surfaces, and with such a huge job it's no surprise that you did. That said, I think if you wanted to break something like this into three videos (instead of chapters) I at least would be perfectly happy with that. That said my personal taste is for a restoration that shows the objects age some... but that doesn't seem to be as popular haha. Either way this video is a masterpiece. the restoration is beautiful, not too repetitive, your humour is at its best, incredible work all around. Might be your best to date.

I would have added a ground lead to that. Metal housing and no earth makes you the ground if something goes bad inside and that would be unpleasant. If its properly grounded a GFI/RCD work much better to protect you against a shock.

You knocked it out of the park for me when you refinished that gauge. Nice work on the rest of it with your attention to detail. One thing I would like to say about the copper line. Over time it will work harden the copper leading to cracks at the flares. if you heat it cherry red and drop it in a bucket of cold water it will anneal the copper removing the hardness. This will also make it like a shiny new penny.

Not bad! Not bad, at all! I would invest in a nickel-plating set-up, it's not super expensive and would be a better option for things like the radiator section. It also gives you the option to replace nickel plating necessarily removed during the restoration process. I have one myself, which I chiefly use for knife blades and bolts/nuts, but the applications are endless. A tumbler for polishing is something I've seen used to great effect on other restoration channels, and I've used a friend's on occasion, myself! Acquiring one for myself will likely be my next purchase, especially if I can find one used. I'd also invest in a volt meter that can check continuity, something that's important when working with electric motor windings, especially older ones. Cool video, keep up the good work!

I think the liquid filled gauges are filled with glycerin to prevent needle vibration, it's pretty common on running machines

There's one major point in its favor, it isn't full of rust. _"I Have To Drain The Oil"_ - Blllob..... blllob.... blllob .... I like the color, it's appropriate for an industrial application. I've been watching restoration projects for a while now, so I went to the local hardware store to see the price of cold bluing solution .... damn that stuff is expensive. Excellent restoration, it will last for years. 👍 Toni must have been amazed. Cheers.
