I got my hands on a vintage 1960's Wadkin Bursgreen 10"AGS table saw, and I'm going to restore it to better than brand new, including under and upper dust extraction.
This will be in three parts.

In the states "hand hammered" paints that do an admirable job are available in a rattle can...
@HewAndAwe
@HewAndAwe 10 ай бұрын
It’s cheaper to use a gun/compressor. Rattle cans also have an annoying habit when they’re running out of screwing up your paint with splattering and obvious tram lines. Hammer paint is an easy paint to shoot too, u have to smash it on heavy for it to have the affect.

After moving to Denmark (from the US) with my Delta Unisaw (single phase, 240V, 60HZ) I thought I could make it work. I could not (VFDs can't solve that issue). I did find the exact same same saw in your video and got it working very well with all of the info you supplied. Thanks so much for that. What is the paste wax you use at the end and where can I find it. I was an SC Johnson paste wax user for two decades and it was recently discontinued. I need a new "go to" paste wax. Also, I love your music selections!

Cheers buddy! I cant help but think I'd rather have the saw in my living room to look at rather than use it! A bit longer to go mind, I think Ive come up with possibly the best under dust extraction "IN THE WORLD" but then I screwed up the motor and waiting on parts at the mo, but between you and me I'm doubling the HP with less weight on the mechanism(s)

Superb job Ben!! You just cannot beat old cast iron machines, with care they will last several lifetimes so you can easily pass that saw down to your grandchildren and they will have a really good machine. I have restored several old machines and they are much better than anything you can buy today. I usually find that its only bearings that need to be replaced and then for a few pounds they work like new. Great video - enjoy your 'new' machine!!!!

Its much more deep seated than that, theres actual heart felt feelings for the saw! 🤒 I mean theres nothing more I could of done making it new again, so my sole went into it - but every time I switch it on in my head I go "god I love this saw!" and its nearly been a year since I brought it back to life.

Theres a bit of a story to the saw, I rocked up to my brothers place and he asked me about second hand saws etc I said "look for Wadkin stuff!" He's always looking at auctions, saw this saw bid and won it. He was like do it up and sell it, I was like no way... Keep it, its beautiful. He said he'll never use it put it in my workshop and use it cause he knows I'll look after it - trouble is I went balls deep - Im 3 weeks in getting it up to speed, the dust collection (lack of) is taking longer than the refurbishment of the saw! If I had a living room big enough I think I would just put it in there and look at it!

@@HewAndAwe I’ve known people with motor bikes in their living room. I would love to have the space for some proper kit. The chap who put us through our exams had downsized from a furniture workshop and kept all his machines , just a joy to use.

@@HewAndAwe I wouldn't have even gone as far as you did, let alone media blasting! I think you did a great job with it. Machines are meant to be used, and that's what I do with them. I've got a few machines with babbet bearings, etc. Some of my machines are late 19th century. We have the tooling for making up leather belts as well.

Awesome job. Your attention to detail is second to none. Might not be a level many aspire to, but I consider it the mark of a master. "*Grunt*...Newton meters" is the mark of a different type of master. Funny shi*te! Brought a million watt smile to my face when I saw this video posted. I hope KZbin has corrected their errors in not featuring your content.
