Love these pictures from the 60’s! My parents stood for a cousin’s wedding in 1964. The bridesmaids had yellow short dresses. They had a fake yellow flower with a little veil on their heads. I thought it was so cool that the bridesmaids had veils too. I would take that headpiece from my mom’s closet and play bride with it.

I had forgotten how popular veils and gloves were back then. It was really interesting to watch, I just wish they had not repeated so many of the pictures.

Those where the days a bride came into the church as a respectful young lady ! Not showing her breasts , her legs , or her butt ! A very respectable young lady ready to start a new life with the love of her life ! The wedding gowns weren’t expensive like nowadays, then in a year they’re getting divorced!

Totally agree! Class, timeless, and elegant. They were ladies!

Totally agree, respect for those around them and reverence for their place of worship. People hardly use those words these days. Never mind understand and practice them.

Totally agree with you. They were the days we knew how to have a wedding dress and also the bridesmaids, today most of them with tattoos showing, and their wedding dressers are horrible

My mother married in 1962. She looked beautiful. My grandmother was a seamstress and made the gown s of her three daughters and a niece (raised by her as a daughter). They all looked precious. My wedding gown was also quite “modest”. And beautiful too

Gorgeous the time of sophistication and elegance. Not like today where everything is laid bare ,see though and no respect for themselves, the church or priest, pastor or the person being the officiating. Let alone the father's of the bride

What I findthe most silly thing of brides today they have been living with their groom for several years, have a child together , and then do the whole Father give the Bride away. Once you have lived with and had a child you dont need anyone to give you away. Have your wedding celebration but at least walk yourself down the aisle . I just personally think it has become silly

User-Nonsense! A day most families can’t afford. A dress that costs a lot and is rarely if altered- worn again. It’s unreal. Nothing to do with learning about each other. Why would a daughter want to be ‘given away’? It’s mostly about impressing the neighbours and status. It’s the worn out traditions of other cultures. Most brides aren’t virgins any more. That’s how untruthful it all is.

I am totally disgusted by the brides that show off all (they call it “sexy”, I call it trampy , then it lasts a year ( or less). Mine has lasted 46 years.
