GMT has 5 games in their catalogue that I just adore: 1. Labyrinth: The War on Terror (with expansions) 2. Twilight Struggle 3. 1960: The Making of the President 4. Dominant Species 5. 1846: The Race for the Midwest Those are 5 masterpieces, I could play them all the time, anytime :D. 1960 is brilliant. And this was a PERFECT explanation for the game.

I totally missed the fact that Hawaii and Alaska have their own borders. It's not likely to be super relevant for actual gameplay as they're most likely to get cubed via an event card of some sort, but it's good to know in case someone wanted to actually campaign in the west 😂

Question: in the pre-debate phase, if you played the candidate card, which would give you two cards left. Should the player discard one of the cards?
@WatchItPlayed21 күн бұрын
I shot this long enough ago I don't recall the rules from memory, so could you give me a time stamp to the section of the video you are asking about?
@bobowang147620 күн бұрын
Thanks for the reply. I’m talking about the 25:56 timestamp. What if I played my candidate card in a pre-debate phase, which would give me one additional card left in my hand for the later debate use. Same applied to the post-debate phase, what if I played my candidate card (giving me 5CP) but then at the end I would have three cards instead of two cards. Thanks😊

@kroomiester3 жыл бұрын
Do you find it easier, harder or the same to make videos on games with GMT style rulebooks? I find them more difficult to learn and teach from because the order rules appear in the rulebook is not often where those rules begin to make sense.
@WatchItPlayed3 жыл бұрын
It depends on the title - this one, for example, is written more in the board game format we are used to seeing outside of war game rule books.

I noticed a few deviations from the original first edition rules. The biggest one is that the ‘Issue Shift’ precedes the ‘Momentum awards’. I feel it gives too much value to the media support. If anyone played it both ways how does it change the balance?
@WatchItPlayed3 жыл бұрын
I never played the original, but if I had to guess, they used the game play and years of outcomes from the first edition to influence any changes for this edition.
@michelecarbone28962 жыл бұрын
I think it makes media support more important and for good reasons. In the original is a bit of a waste to invest in media unless you are trying to defend a majority in crucial states. Another change is that cubes in media boxes give you double the amount of political capital during the election.
