I love seeing the original Falcons, we had so many versions in Australia which changed face many times that its hard to remember the iconic simplicity it had originally. My first car was was an 85 Falcon, 4.1L straight 6, Falcons are almost a cult over here haha!

That motor will last forever. And may be the one setup that may not explode that 7.25 rear. Great work! Im restoring a 63 convertible now, but you did yours very smart, saving a ton of money and it looks great.

Actually the 7.25 is starting to make bad noises🥴. I’m gonna run it till it explodes then look into narrowing an 8.8 and four linking it.

My wife had a 61falcon in the late 60s I didn't like it but if her's was like yours I would have loved it! I like the fact you've done all the work yourself and didn't just throw money to someone to build it I doubt if they could have done a better job. I had a ,72 MGBGT almost that color I wish I had kept it

hi victor great to see another falcon build i had the same idea with running either the toyota or nissan engines but ended up going with the Australian au falcon 4.0l for the simple reason much like yourself no one else had one lol,really like the bumpers aswell may steal that idea next time we rebuild ours,anyway theres a small vid if you click on our name, great job mate thanks for posting,chris

I’ve looked at the supercharger but worry it won’t fit under the hood. Turbo is probably the way to go!

Haha good question. I’ve been driving it regularly with no fan and no overheating yet . I’ve not ever been stuck in traffic long enough for it to overheat. I do need to get a fan on it soon since it’s been super hot this summer. Fan and brake upgrade are the next updates.

I’m an old guy and I like your car, including the motor. I’m driving ‘75 Toyota PU with the stock engine. This PU would be unsafe with a V8. It’s barely safe as is. Weight distribution is too forward biased. Yours, I recon improved.

Awesome! Wiring wasn’t too bad, only two power wires to the ECU and one ground. I found a wiring diagram online that helped me find which ones needed power. I did have to fabricate the engine mounts myself just used cardboard templates to mock it up and used 1/4 steel and used the factory rubber mount. Driveshaft was the toughest swap part. I had to have driveshaft shop work there magic using Toyota joint up front and the Ford joint in the rear.

Almost none… I really wanted a Toyota inline 6 motor but those are very expensive. This 2wd 4Runner became available locally and I made some rough measurements and bough the 4Runner and immediately ripped it out. I don’t know much about the 4.7l

Yeah they are bolted through the floor pan with lock nuts and extra large washer to distribute the load.

Going to end up swapping the 3.4 with 4 speed auto into a 1969 Mercedes w108. Any advice setting up the ECU or building the egnine and trans plates? Any trouble linking the new tranny with original shiftter ?

The ECU is a bit tricky. I couldn’t find the exact wiring diagram for 98 2wd 4Runner so I kinda had to guess at which wires needed to go where. The grounds were pretty easy since they were all the same color. Power was a lot more difficult since there are three different wires that need power to make the ECU work. Hopefully you can find a proper wire diagram from your donor vehicle. The engine mounts I had to custom make to fit the falcon but I did reuse the Toyota rubber mounts. I also had to make custom brackets to adapt the shifter. Sounds like you have a fun project on your hands.

@@victorfagan3043 oh yeah I know man I've had my 2004 tundra n still runs like a champ only issue I've had with it was the fuil pump going out n the torque converter breaking which was two easy fixes didn't cost me much at all few hundred bucks, but my Thunderbird I've had since 2002 it's a 93 with a 3.8 but I've switched out two motors n already needs another one it's a pain in the ass especially when I dont have the money to fix but ever since I've had my truck I've always thought of putting that 3.4 Toyota engine in that Thunderbird with a Chevy transmission fuck it would smoke these fools

I left all the Toyota emission devices in, including the cat. It could technically pass an emissions test. The only thing I haven’t connected is the Evap canister for fuel tank vapors. I plan to connect that someday.
