Bloody hell. Born in 74, love my 80's music but holy shit, how amazing in 1961? Phenomenal music.

Big Bad John is one of my major favorites! Some years later, someone wrote a response to this song and the queen brought him out of that hole!!

My mom and dad had a bunch of 45s and ĹPs that I loved. Too bad they have been last to time. 😢

Loved music back iin those days. Didn't Connie Francis have 2 number hits in 1961? Whose Heart Are You Breaking Tonight and Everybody's Somebody's Fool

Carole, Kane was raised on music, just watch the documentary The Wrecking Crew It’s no surprise her finger prints all over a hit song, she originally started as a guitarist, then one night, she was asked to fill-in for a bass player, the rest is history, she liked the bass better, because she only had to carry one guitar!

CORRECTION: Although several artists recorded “Are you Lonesome Tonight” in 1927, Al Jolson was not one of them. He did record the song, but it was in 1950, and it was one of his last recordings. That 1950 recording was arranged almost identically with Elvis's version. It is clear that Elvis was inspired by that version, rather than any of the 1927 versions.

How about Let's Twist Again? The Twist came out in 1960 and the lyrics say "...Ltet's twist again, like we did last summer." And a reference to when things were really really humming. I think it came out in 1961. The thing I most remember about 1961 when I was 11 was that it was 1961 even if printed upside down. And then there was the 1961 Plymouth.... Ugh!

Wasn’t love me do an American no 1 in 1964 because it reached no 17 in the U.K. charts in October 1962

Big Bad John was ripped off by Jimmy Dean's producers from Dan Fogelberg's bass player. He presented it to Dean's record company (without a protective copyright) who, promptly, tightened it up and gave it to Dean who had the balls to put his name on it. I'm a song writer and that fact has pissed me off since hearing about it at a Dan Fogelberg concert from the bassists own mouth. Jimmy Dean was a turd.

While I love all the "WaybackUSA" videos, I don't need to hear how great the old days were and how crappy things are now. It is repetitive to the point of being annoying.
