Another beautiful example of awesome engineering! Pontiac was always known for its "Wide Track" design, which made it stand out from the rest of the GM stable. This convertible has been well taken care of, and the engine sounds healthy. The 1961 model year for all GM cars was great in all departments. I never thought that I would see the day when Oldsmobile and Pontiac both would be completely phased out, which is sad.

That was Pontiac's bottom model? That's like a restaurant where the cheapest dessert is a donut the size of a car's tire! Those manufacturers sure weren't afraid to make big, giant cars. Out of all of them though, Pontiac is my personal fave. Pontiac's styling and such happens to be the most interesting for me, and then Pontiac took the excitement niche and really made some iconic cars. Even this bottom level car has a nice line going down the side and the name "Catalina" inside the line. Pontiac, you are sorely missed.

Oh my god! I had a ''Hand Me down'' from my older brother 1961 Catalina convertible 4 speed tri-power car when I was a kid! I bought another three speed convertible for the 8 lug wheels, They were the only thing much good other than trim on that car as it was a real rot box! My dad was helping me build it and for some reason he quit and then he wouldn't let me finish it! I think he was afraid I would kill myself in it! I still have some of the parts to it laying around! This one looks a lot like the one I had other than my brother had painted it 65 GTO Tiger Gold when the Judge came out and had his girlfriend letter ''THE JURY'' on the front fenders! This looks like a really nice car and it took me back to the late 60's and early 70's when I was working on mine!

You know what's really "cool" about Pontiac a/c from this period? Look how many air outlets there were! Compare to even some of the other GM cars with two or three outlets. My parents had a '60 Bonneville with the same basic dashboard and it was so terrific here in Texas to have five outlets because no one was getting the full force of the air, and they distributed the air beautifully. I always loved the way that Pontiac heat and a/c controls used those little blue and red bars for temp adjustment...

Pontiacs had such a distinctive look with that fantastic split grill. Even though this car may have been the base Catalina, it still has some really neat features and has a really sleek profile, the rear bumper looks so snug and tucked up to the body making it actually part of the body lines. The color of this car is super nice, and the color change for the top is spot on and should've been a factory option because it really matches the style of the car very well. I absolutely Loved the view of the open road over that long sculpted hood, simply amazing. There was a 326, but only for Tempests and LeMans from 1963 to 1967 (and Firebirds in '67). (Pontiac called it a 326, but the engine's actual displacement was 336 cubic inches.) And the 428, offered from 1967 to '69, was the 421 with its bore size increased from 4.09 inches to 4.12 inches. Then came the 455 for 1970. (1/8/2022)

One of the features of my dad's 1961 Bonneville was a trunk light that could be easily removed from a holding bracket and the power wire was spooled inside a housing. Enough wire to reach the front wheel or engine compartment. The light was also controlled by a mercury bubble switch. The radio was interesting because it was a hybrid of vacuum tube and transistors or a least one big button transistor.

I've always loved Pontiac. Also interested in cars like this that were popular the year I was born. 😁

Love the Pontiacs. Mid 1960s we had a white 61 Pontiac. I remember the clear greenish steering wheel. Tha car whistled going down the road.

Just great, and made in the year I was born. Lots of Pontiacs sold in Australia in the 60's. No convertibles though, only four door sedans.

My first car was a 61 Bonneville and was given to me by a family friend in 1969. Still, the most beautiful car I ever owned. Living in New Hampshire (the number 1 salt per lane mile user in the country) cars didn’t last long back then and this one was no different. Only drove it for 8 months and the frame and body rot ruined it completely.

Champagne is a great color. Especially, if the champagne gets pressed with the same grapes of which make up rose' wine. Those were one of the last lean and gorgeous Pontiacs. We're going to have to donate Kathy a lead-filled right shoe 😎

Being an autobody / painter for many years, that is a difficult color to match in any brand of car. They turn a silver/ gray shade when refinished, or blended in to the other color.

@@kevinsnyder4425 yeah i was just thinking maybe this car had a fender bender in its life and this was the best somebody could do???

@@loucostabile, I think I always liked GMs best, but I'm driving a 2020 Ford Fusion. I love this car but hate how they painted us into a 4 cylinder motor with only 180 HP. But these cars are safer, if only because now my maximum speed is slower!☮
