A brief demo of our 1962 Magnavox "Stereo Entertainment Console" in "Normandy Provincial" styling. This all-tube behemoth has six speakers, AM/FM radio, Micromatic record player, and black & white television with "Dramatic 330 square inch picture". Its also equipped with "power tuning", which turns the channel dial knob for you! A top-of-the-line unit, it retailed for $650 back in 1962, which translates to about $5,600 in today's money. Please subscribe to our channel to see lots of cool old things that do stuff. This item may be for sale, check our eBay store for availability... stores.ebay.com... Growing up in the 60's I still remember the smell of the vacuum tubes when the TV was warming up.

You are entering another dimension. You will control the horizontal. You will play surf music on the turntable. You will listen to Paul Harvey on the radio.

These models were very expensive at the time. We were lucky enough just to have the TV.

That resembles the model my grandparents had. I was offered it but couldn't afford the shipping at the time they passed. So cool to see one in working order. The one my grandparents had I believe was a 1962 model but configured a little differently where the receiver is located. Also, the speaker cabinet and the screen was differently configured as well. Thanks for posting this!

I grew up in the 90s and we had an old wooden TV set in the living room until about 2001 i think. I wish i still had that old box so i could retro fit it with a modern display.

We used to have a similar RCA Console. We had it until about 1977, when we got our first color tv.

@Atomic Junk Space Video==THANKS & WOW!!!! I guess they added on the """Code Name""" DRAMATIC 300 to make up for the """its NOT COLOR but still enjoyable!!!""" My relative had a simular console for COLOR and color buttons had::BLUE*LAVENDER*PINK*GREEN*RED* Never seen any other with PINK & LAVENDER as I guess sometimes you HAD TO REFRESH weaker COLOR SIGNAL!!!! and keep the CORRECTED COLOR for SKY*GRASS*FLESH TONES!!! I still have 1968 ""CONCORD"" COMPACT REEL TO REEL RECORDER with AM RADIO*1967 CALIPHONE PHONO* 1970s AM/FM RECIEVERS for playing CELL PHONE AUDIO into on AUXILARY* 1980s SONY WALKMANS*1980s CLOCK RADIOS* and they all STILL WORK!!!!! THANKS again☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆ 8 star film representation!!

Wow! I remember seeing a few of these in my younger years. Now, you can have all of that - and more - in a flatscreen ‘smart’ TV. About the record player? I thought I saw a few TVs with some sort of analog audio input. That’s where some record players could go.

I just picked one up similar to this, question is how do I get modern gadgets like dvd to plug into it? Around the 70s the antenna connection was different allowing you to plug in vhs and beta, these older ones are different.

One more comment==my father bought an OLYMPIC TV SET way back around 1956 and by 1965 it started to FOG UP with the picture OVERSIZING so what many viewers did was DARKEN BRIGHTNESS & REMOVE CONTRAST and the picture would SHRINK BACK TO REGULAR SIZE!!!!! Then when the TV SET was about to EXPIRE by 1972 the tv REPAIR GUY would give it a ""BOOST"" and it lasted up to 1977!!! But one MORE BOOST WOULD KILL the set as its old age couldn,t take it so we removed the tv set OUT OF CABINET and had a REAL HAND CRAFTED WOODEN CABINET!!!!! for the SMALLER TV SET to make home!!!!!! NOTE== try """BOOSTING""" any appliance today and you,ll EXPLODE everything around you!!!!!

Just a VCR and a little thing called a 75-300ohm matching transformer. If it was 30 years ago, you probably would have found a few of them in your junk drawer. They're only a few bucks at Radio Shack...oh, you can't go there anymore, either. I suppose you'll need to visit the world wide web to get one.

Never understood the appeal of these console systems then or especially now. Most of the money went into the cabinet. Yes, there were in some cases, some pretty good components within but in reality one back then would have had a better system consisting of individual components rather than everything stuffed into a decorative box.

How on earth did you get the TV to actually show anything? Doubt any analog channels are left. Guess you rigged a VCR to go thru the antenna input. Also, I would bet 99% of everything in this "Console" is all Made in USA. That alone is about a rare as this console is.
