Reverb tip: if it says it comes with a case, ask for a picture of the case. You buy sight unseen you will definitely get a case but it might not be the kind of case you want in your home. I once received one that was so disgusting I dumpstered it as soon as it arrived. Fortunately the guitar was fine.

I've always wanted to get into my fret work but never had the guts. I think I'm gonna try tho. I have plenty of guitars that can't really be made any worse! That I can practice on. There's a guy about an hour from me who's kinda legendary in the local area. He did a fret dress on a bottom of the line Gibson SG of mine and it really made it into a whole new guitar in terms of feel and playability. It's the difference between an ok guitar and a great guitar alot of the time

Hopefully he can return it for a full refund. If he is able to return it, I would not be surprised if it shows up on Reverb again by the same seller, though. Question for you Dave: would a refret using frets with a wider tang take the forward bow out of it, or does the reinforcement rod prevent that from working? @NickRatnieks Жыл бұрын
The guitar has a replacement neck and the tuners look like tacky items- not what the neck would have had when new. This model came with single unit Waverly tuners with plastic buttons and hexagonal ferrules. On another matter, this Silvertone model is based on the Harmony H-49 Stratotone Jupiter so I don't know why it has a Kay made neck- other than it fitted and was used to replace the original Harmony neck. These guitars do sell for a lot of money ( one I saw recently was $1650) and this one was far less expensive than many you see. As a guitar chock full of non-original parts, this explains its lower price- assuming it was in top shape elsewhere all would have been well. Ideally, someone ought to try and find an original neck but I suppose fixing the neck it now has is a sensible alternative as it might take a long time to get the genuine neck as a part. Do you plan to follow up where this goes? This should show the sold $1650 example sold recently on YT. 1962 Silvertone 1423 (Harmony Stratotone Jupiter) semihollow electric guitar Jake Wildwood
