Great work for these vintage Tonka trucks n vehicles that you are restoring again n they bring back old vintage memories

I got the same truck. Got mine in 1960 at four years old. Still have it on display in my house, in very good condition, never been outside.
@williamtheconqueror45633 жыл бұрын
This one meant a little more to me because I played with one just like it as a kid. Thanks! Seeing it all restored brought back lots of fond memories. We didn’t have a lot of toys but we made use of all the ones we had. Those were great times.
@garyalexander56863 жыл бұрын
Agreed. I had one of these. My brothers and I loved it. It's so strange seeing something I haven't thought about for so many years. I think it was that Tonka yellow color that initially jarred my memory.
@DaveStarr43 жыл бұрын
wow.........that was amazing very professional work very nicely done......but you forgot one thing........these originally had loading ramps that went with it I used to have one of these as a kid.......there should have been 2 slots for the end of the loading ramps to go in on the lower deck and a ramp holder underneath the end of the trailer
@FanManSC4 ай бұрын
It's curious, because if you watch disassembly, there is only one slot in the middle. I wonder if this year came with a separate ramp?

Here is a tip that will save you some money. As long as the wheels aren't too wobbly, re-use them. Use something fairly strong like Vantastic, clean them. Use a toothbrush. You want to pull as much of the dirt out as you can. It might even take the very top layer of hard rubber off. Which is a good thing. Once you get them clean and dry, spray them with black vinyl dye. It will bring the color back to the old rubber. After they dry, spray them with either mat clear or satin clear. That way they will have a shine. But not too shiny. When you put new whitewalls on and new caps, nobody will notice it. It will blend right in. Those wheels cost a lot. This will save you some money. If you have one that is wobbly but the tread is still good, this works on some, but not all. Use a small piece of shrink tubing right where the wheel rides. You might have to make the hole in the wheel slightly larger by drilling them out. But, if you drill it right the shrink tube will take up the slack and tighten up the tire on the axle. Use black shrink tubing. With the wheel on it, nobody will ever see it or realize it's there.

I can't remember if Tonka made it or not, but I can remember my little brother had a red tanker truck. It had steering, if you tilted the cab right the front wheels turned right and the same for turning left. It was about the size of the car Carrier you just done. It didn't have a trailer it was one piece. I love your collection. Keep up the good work and stay safe.
