1962 Topps Baseball Cards - Wood Border Beauties, Love them or Hate them?

On my channel, I’ve told the story of my 1962 Topps that I collected as a boy. When I first opened the packs, I really wasn’t in love with the woodgrain, but then I started seeing some of the photographic images on the card Maris, Koufax, Mays, Clemente, and so forth, and I really fell in love with the set. I’m finally starting to feel warmer towards the 62’s. I always liked the 66 Topps Football, but the 62 Baseball? I like at least 25 individual cards… The 62’s look great, centered in Nm, but at this point, I prefer fillers from 53, 54, 55, even 63, and 64 low grade wins vs 62 low grade… but, that’s just like my opinion…man.😂

I've never met a baseball card that I didn't like, but I really like the 62 set! I usually don't go for the more simple designs, but this one really just has something to it for me. The stamps are awesome, too, and you have some great examples of those as well. Great cards, and thanks for sharing!

Orlando this is a beautiful display!! My favorite 1962 Topps card is a semi-high #464, Al Jackson. That's the first card to ever feature a player wearing a Mets hat - the return of national league baseball in New York was finally official!! Thanks for sharing - Merry Christmas, pal!!

Its a set with some gorgeous cards: Maris, Aaron, Gibson, Mays, Yaz, Clemente, Kaat, Koufax, the All Stars, and more; and then a lot of dull cards: many with minimal color, no hats, blank hats. Overall I like it, but I like all the sets through the mid 70's so comparatively its towards the bottom. Thanks for showing!!!

Awesome showcase Orlando! Love the wood grain border of the 62 Topps cards(87 Topps too 😁) For me 62 Topps cards look real bad when they are all beat up but when in really nice condition they are beautiful!

Nice to see these beauties again! That Brock... it screams PSA 8! It's a ridiculous copy, unreal. I have only ever owned 2 1962 Topps, one being a Musial Venezuelan I picked up for a buddy and the other was a Gaylord Perry I sent to PSA last summer. I think it's a beautiful set design. Ironically, I cannot stand the 25-year anniversary tribute set- the 1987 Topps. So burned out on those, although I do like the O-Pee-Chee, Traded and Tiffany. The regular set isn't vibrant enough besides maybe a few Athletics cards, namely the heavily airbrushed Donnie Hill haha... How about that mike Laga!? Too many washed-out and dull photos. The Bo and other Future Stars are amazing though, and the Tiffany, OPC and Traded actually truly pop. I think I'd like the 1987 set better if the borders were a bit thinner like the 1962's. Doesn't help Topps reuses the 1987 Topps design every 6 months. I really like the woodgrain/tv Bowman baseball, Hires Root Beer and Topps hockey designs as well. Great copies!
