@@edflood I am glad you enjoyed the video. I think everyone sharing their prized cards is a great thing. I love seeing them. I will do that someday. Just not this year. I do collect in a very personal way. I buy cards from an emotional standpoint. I also stay away from other cards for the same reason. Some players I just simply don’t like, so no matter how “great” they were, I just don’t get their cards. Thank you so very much for watching and commenting. I appreciate that more than you know!

Great video, Tony. I did not expect to see a Jim Palmer rookie card here. And I say this as, a Baltimore Orioles fan. He just doesn't have much love in the hobby, so it seems. And he was one of the winningest pitchers (with a really great ERA) of his time. I also like the '59 Topps Frank Robinson. Not because he also played for the Orioles, but it's just a classic card. I love that '59 Topps design.

I might throw Ken Griffey Jr.'s 96-97 seasons (or 97-98, if you like the back-to-back 56 HR seasons more) as potentially the best 2-season period for a player into the ring. That said, even as a biased Mariners fan, I think you still have to give the Mantle the win on that..... Great showing of a bunch of cool cards... Thanks!

So these are #101 and lower in value? Can't wait to see the ones above the cutoff! You didn't mention it, but that 1958 Musial All-Star was his first Topps card. Bowman had him locked up, but 1955 was the last Bowman set. Why didn't Topps have Musial in 56 and 57? And if they had the rights to print an A.S. card in '58, why not a base card?
@SouthernCollector14Ай бұрын

My favorite is the Chief Bender portrait, which I own as well. I wonder if his nickname, which was given to him by others, would be allowed in an age when teams from pro level down to Little League had to change their names. Except the KC Chiefs; I wonder why that is? Anyway, Bender is one of only two Native Americans in the HOF. Zach Wheat is the other.

I like your inclusion of Chief Bender. He is underrated in baseball history. He was the first Native American inducted into the HOF (1953). He did have trouble with booze, and he may have killed a boy in 1917 (but he was exonerated), so I doubt he lives up to the moral standards of a guy like Musial.
