It is a Rusty Patina Beauty! Besides, it needs to shine, since it’s celebrating the best of the worst. The car is going to get a lot of attention at the TRials, likely an award winner… and it should be, just because of it’s crazy journey. And the two of you should be awarded for the best Triumph help channels on KZbin. Everyone knows who you guys are and it’s not only informative but it’s also fun to sit in on your adventures. You still have work to do but this car is heading to the 6-Pack TRials this September! And we’ll be proud to flank her all the way there! 👍

I believe you achieved the look you wanted, a few application streaks will only add to the "patina". I would not reply on too many "videos" you might see, as they seem to leave out several important things and cameras do not grab all of the imperfections.

From the title I thought you’d named the car Poppy! Wouldn’t be a bad choice with the bright red. It’s come out well, nice to have it drivable without going full rebuild too.

I likeit another, with the other parts ( mirrors, bumpers,trunk rack and the top and interior)on the car I think it will look really good!

As a very interesting experiment I think it looks absolutely brilliant! I quite like the idea of wipe on clearcoat as there are lots of people with 20 year old cars that still give excellent service but the original clearcoat has peeled off in places. Rather than scrap the old car, ordinary people can smarten up their beloved old cars at home without any special spray equipment, and give them a few more years of respectable life. Very nice Dave!

Great job David.. Personally I didn't think I'd like the high gloss, but now I've seen it on the car, I like it. Getting down to the final touches now. It's ben a really 'off the wall' and interesting project. Look forward to the next episode.

It looks really good on video, it may be worth giving the car another coat as I should imagine you are only going to wash the car and perhaps dry it when necessary. But looking at the car seating on it's four wheels it looks great, and I wouldn't have a problem driving it around all the time.

I like the look of it as well, Chef, but was wondering why you had to mask the chrome ? Couldn't you clear coat the chrome as well ? John in Manitoba.

It would just peel off the chrome John unless you sanded it and I didn’t want to do that.

Well..........I would have to immediately sand the whole car down, prepare it properly and have it painted. I'm too old for "patina." I have enough patina on my own chassis and body. Nonetheless, I am surprised that the clear coat looks that good. I'm sure the car will be lots of fun to drive.
