That valiant is awesome! I love the body lines on those 62s. That would make a killer sleeper!

Hmmm, a sleeper? I have seen small block V8 engines installed, from hat I understand a big block is easier to install, flip the exhaust manifolds backwards so the outlets are in front.

When I was a little boy in Glasgow, Scotland, I would see a lot of these old late 50's and early 60's American cars with fins that to me seemed to be huge andi was in love with them and I still am. Love your site and so pleased you are looking after these old cars.This era of automotive art will never come again and we should all revere these special cars

Growing up, we had a next-door neighbor who had one of these. Every morning, he would start it up and gun it until it warmed up. It probably needed a new muffler because it was loud! My dad would complain to us every day about how much that guy loved his old Valiant and how loud it was.

In 1969 I needed a car to head off to college (UCSB). I found an absolutely pristine '62 Signet like this one in red, inside and out. It had the 225 slant six...what a great engine...trouble-free and very torquey...the car had a three on the tree stick shift. The prior owner had added a high-end aftermarket A/C that was ice cold. The car had 82K on the clock but looked and drove like it had 20K. Loved that car and ran it up to 145K before selling it. Drove it everywhere. The unibody never displayed any squeaks or rattles. I kept it showroom inside and out. Miss that car.

My father had one of these in the the U.K. Back in the early seventies it was a very cool car, i loved driving around in it with him, he had a lot of nice american cars in the late sixties / early seventies as they were quite cheap to buy due to the running cost, he also had a 61 T bird.. They dont make cars that beautifull anymore. Good luck with the restoration.

Knew a guy back in Titusville Pa. In early 70s who had a 62 dodge Lancer. 2dr hdt. Dropped in a 340 4speed out of. Out of a dart. Maybe the whole driveline. Can't quite remember. Painted it bright yellow. And badges with R/T emblems. It looked like it came from the factory. Fast too as I recall. Miss those days.

The first car my wife had to drive was a black four door 60-61 Valiant with the toilet seat fake spare in the trunk lid. She called it the Batmobile. The day she received her license, another young lady was backing her new(1976) Monza out of a parking spot without looking and the Valiant tore off the rear bumper and cover with just barely a dent and scratch on the old Valiant.

@CudaFry my grandmother bought it for me as a surprise meaning I was brought to an old passed family friend house and said I was there to pick a vehicle 1952 international pickup truck or a 1963 dodge dart 270 4 door sedan 225/6 and the pushbutton 904 automatic I picked the dart later I opened up the trunk and found all 4 original full styled hub caps I'm 41 now I just need to find something fair soon I'm not getting any younger. 4 years after grandma bought the car the gentleman who was like family passed. And 3 years after that grandma passed. So it's meaningful to me 2 great people who was there for a child.

I have not seen very many 2 door versions of these. They're almost always 4 door. I think this was a car that was mostly bought by very practical, sensible people who didn't have a whole lot of money. You almost never see a V8 in one either. Way back in 1970, somebody stuffed a Hemi into one of these. It was featured in "Hot Rod". This one looks clean enough to have the potential to be a nice little car. The Challenger rims and white letter tires look great. They give it attitude. You should keep those. Is it a flip or a keeper? Most everything we see on KZbin these days is a flip. I don't think too many people care much about the cars themselves any more. The holler is for the dollar.

Index your plugs run a 2 barrel manifold with A 350 Holley with out a choke an give the valve lash a fee extra tho inlet an exhaust . Run the same size tyres all round . 14 x7 rims use the same brand of shocks all round they will handle better . That brings back memories. My first car was a 62 Valiant Signet 200. Mine was white with the blue interior. The inset color in the fender trim matched the interior color. You really ought to put new 6.50x13 tires on it and use the original hub caps. That blue paint does not look original.

@cudafry1967
@cudafry1967 Жыл бұрын
62 is not as desirable as later years, from what I am told, although I disagree. My understanding is a running 1960-62 is worth about 3-5 thousand, my best guess, but as usual other factors play into it, body style etc. Everyone loves a wagon these days!

@@cudafry1967 thank you so much for replying to my message. I also do prefer the earlier body style. A gentleman has a 1960 four door for sale but he does want the higher price of the range you suggest. The car will need paint, and some interior work. Car is running and is a California car, he wants $5k. I think the price is a bit high to be honest, but I don’t know much about these classics, unfortunately. Alternative, I am also eyeing a 60 studebaker gran turismo Hawk I saw in another ad. Thanks again for taking the time to answer my question, very nice of you.
