God that took me back to 1967 when i had the Golden Arrow, im now 73 and rember that Arrow like yesterday had some fun on that bike , you could bank an arrow as low as you liked my pegs weren't straight they had a slope upwards , only trouble i had was always having to adjust the timming & the points , think the gap in the points was 18 thou , used to carry a spare set , 2 plugs and a screwdriver 🪛 plug spanner , if you didnt have feeler gauge i used a piece of card from a Rizler ciggy paper 😅 Nice note out of yours though same as the one i had , smashing happy days 👍

Awesome, unusual pattern fitted panel under the seat, same sort of fitting from the tank to headlight. Fabulous machine 👍👌

Slightly before my riding time started but I was surprised how much it sounded like my early 70's Yamaha YDS-7 that I had in the late 70's. I'd imagine it to be quite tuneable as well.

I had a Yamaha 200 twin in 1976, and at that time I wouldn't have touched that Ariel with a bargepole. Now, however, I am really attracted to the look of it. And the sound........

If this had a big twin sound track it would be awesome, the design is beautiful .

No smoke either! The old saying was "No thanks I'm smoking an arrow/leader" when offered a cigarette. This ones in tip-top condition and sounds lovely too.

I've always thought the Leader/Arrow bikes would have been better with a four stroke engine but that might be because I'm not a fan of two strokes. This one looks like an excellent example of the Arrow and seems to go really well. The previous owner must have looked after it very well.

Michael O Rourke was 7th in the 1960 lightweight TT, they could be quite highly tuned.

During the sixties it was possible to buy a tank and seat or tank-seat combination for the Arrow. Fitting Ace bars or steer-well conversions, rear-sets with a linkage for gear and cable operated rear brake. Cleaning up the porting and fitting the most incredibly noisy expansion chamber exhaust. These bikes were surprisingly quick for their time... bad brakes and suspension let them down though..When these bikes were manufactured they were possible the best two-strokes available in UK...

I could have bought on of these brand new in the early '60s, but - I didn't. Pressed Steel body parts, unconventional Front Fork & Steering Head arrangement, Petrol Tank under seat, etc: They just didn't sesonate with me as being a proper motor bike. But, I wish I had a well restored one now!

Excuse me for asking but is this a 250cc or the "tax saver" 200cc that Ariel brought out? Just I had a 200 which was the exact same colour as this! Hope you don;t mind me asking? Whichever it is a smashing little bike! Thanks.

Just for comparison, I had a 200cc Arrow sport from 1967-68 and that had a blue tank.

In reality, I do NOT like motorbikes with a Pressed Steel & Welded frame. They are more like a Kids Toy than a Motorbike! And that is all that needs to be said on the matter.

My first ride on a motorcycle was on this bike, I was about eleven, had my slippers on and a jumper and off we went. It was the best thrill ever. I am now seventy two, still got the bug and still riding, but on a Triumph. And with a helmet (it’s law now)😊
