The 1958, '59 and '60 Lincolns were pretty grotesque, and I say that as a huge admirer of '50s cars. This style, which followed, is amazingly beautiful and clean. From one extreme to the other.

I love them, but I just picked up a 1958 Caddilac Coupe deville, and I am totally in love with it!!

Agree! The mid 50's Lincolns were quite nice but in that three year stretch you allude to, Lincolns were anything but stylish/attractive.

My dad had a 1962 Lincoln Continental in Sultana White with Parchment leather interior. It was so classy, beautiful and elegant it made be feel special riding in it. That's when the Lincoln star on the hood really meant something!

I drove one like this around New Orleans back in the early 1970's as a young guy. It belonged to my Aunt & Uncle who moved back down south after living in Chicago. We flew up and U-Hauled them on down. What a story on that whole scene.

My grandfather and an aunt had these Lincoln’s in the 60’s. They we beautiful, special cars then. I never knew the difference between Cadillac, Lincoln, Imperial, but I always felt special riding in those Lincoln’s because of the rear doors. Loved opening and closing them. My grandfather went on to owning a new Mark every year, starting with the III. The Mark series, in my opinion wasn’t was nice as the Continental, but I did like the spare tire bulge in the trunk. When he drove my cousins and I anywhere, he’d let us play with any button, except the trunk release. When he retired from Ford, he had a fully loaded 1976 Thunderbird, all green. That was beautiful too, but nothing can compare to the beautiful early 60’s Continental.

Owned a 1963 like this in the late 80s. It was burgundy with original mauve two tone leather interior. The engine was so quiet. It had a better turning radius than the 64 model. Was a real head turner.

I am fortunate enough to own one of these. I am restoring it myself. All the mechanical work is basically done except the AC and windows. Windows work but switches are shot. Decided I would get all of those done at the same time. The car seat in mine is not working either. I think it is stuck. I can hear it trying to work. Mine has rusted quarter panels but I decided to restore them rather than replace them. I want the car to look straight with original panels. Also, my original engine and transmission have been rebuilt. I went with an electric fuel pump also. I would encourage anyone who has this particular car to get the ORIGINAL FUEL PUMP not the after-market one, or you will have trouble with this car. They call this vapor lock in the fuel lines. You will be kicking yourself trying to figure this out. No one talks about it because no one is around who still knows these cars.

I'm a Chevy guy, but damn, Ford made some beautiful rides, these ones being one of my favorites. Not to mention the American nostalgia of the '63 Continental (presidential history).

Nice car! That device on the dash (autotronic eye is what GM called it) controls the high beam low beam adjustment when on. It senses an approaching car and switches to low beam. It's also quite amusing to approach a flashing light when on at night!

Gorgeous Lincoln Continental, love it, always have, since I was a kid. JUst read that they made 31,233 of these in 1963. They did the Suicide because through 1963 it was sitting on a 123 Wheelbase and they decided it would be easier to get in the back seat with these doors, which makes the car, always did

FYI the reason it has an electric fuel pump as well as the mechanical one under the hood is due to a design flaw. I had one of these back in the day. The design flaw was positioning the mechanical fuel pump up front behind the radiator. It would get too hot and cause a vapor lock. The result was if you drove the car on a hot day, shut it off for a few minutes, it wouldn't start again until it cooled off. The "fix", done after market, was to add the electric fuel pump. Another interesting feature was the power door locks which were operated pneumatically. That large "tank" under the front left fender is actually a vacuum reservoir. This allowed the door locks to operate with the engine shut off. Mine was midnight blue metallic with a maroon interior. A truly beautiful car that literally "oozes" down the street.

I am replacing my vacuum lines now. I have a 63' Lincoln. Where can I get actuators if these are bad? My electrical doesn't seem to be messed with. I am getting exhaust coming from the oil filler tube. There is an oil exhaust connection at the top rear of the intake. It was closed off by my mechanic. I believe it is supposed to connect from the back of the intake to the front of the carburetor or back into the intake port.

Beautiful classic Lincoln! Is a body style I remember well from my childhood. Always wanted to own one but never been fortunate to find a nice one and at a price that is within reason. What was the asking price on this beauty? Amazingly rust free. It appears many of the options work well and some options needed attention but not unusual for a car of this age. Really enjoyed this video. Truly a VERY classy automobile. Maybe someday you will have another one to sell? Have a Happy New Year!
