That finish speaks to hours of playing in Smokey bars. Beautiful.

Thats freaking awesome guitar and look at all that yellowing from smoky bars and houses. I wonder why people still call them clay dots cause they were actually fiber board like pickup bobbin material. Thanks for sharing this its a crazy cool
@Tonetwisters10 ай бұрын
That's interesting. They ARE neat looking! But I can say from experience, the newer white dots are much easier to see in dark stage situations or with colored stage lights shining up at you ...

I hope this guitar will be played, recorded, and gigged. Hopefully not wasted by a wealthy hoarder. It's always a shame when these tone machines end up in the hands of guys who can't get a decent tone out of their hands but like collecting stuff.

Hey! I resemble that remark! I kinda disagree. Yes it should be owned by someone who plays it and appreciates it. But out gigging and touring … I hope not
@imstarz91232 жыл бұрын
@@IrishBog It should be played, gigged and toured in my opinion. These guitars were made for that. I play the hell out of my 63. And it certainly looks that way. I've had a couple of refrets. And the original finish is beat up from bars, and lots of sweat too. That also comes from style of play though. Some can gig these and keep them in good condition. I can't do that. I'm trying to play my Strat like it owes me money everytime. Because I might not be here tomorrow. But that's just what I believe guitars were made for. Not to be hoarded by someone who just wants to hang it up and show off. I can't afford to buy alot of them. But if I could, I'd play them all on the road to share with the world. If you don't mind explaining why you don't think these should be gigged and toured, I'd love to hear your point of view as well. 🤘

I see these small frets on this awesome guitar and I think this is why the first version of the silver sky(2018-2020) has very smalls frets because thats what John Mayer's favourite 1963 and 1964 Strats must have also had. The 1963 definitely because I have a 2018 silver sky and the frets are the same size as on this guitar. Small but awesome. I am not a John Mayer fan per se, but I am a fan of his co-invention of the silver sky with PRS, because they all have consistently captured the tone of guitars like this. there is no sound demo here but I am sure all guitar nerds know what I mean. The SS is a reverse engineered piece of awesomeness if that's the tone that a person wants
@paulcowart31743 жыл бұрын
Plus smaller frets definitely work better w a flatter radius Not sure what the SS has
@kaneo673 жыл бұрын
@@paulcowart3174 the SS doesn't have a flatter radius its the same radius specs as a '63 which is 7.25

I love vintage gear but can we be clear about something? These guitars are not "works of art." In fact, that goes against the very ethos that Leo Fender himself started his company with, which was to make affordable and easily mass-produced gear -- the OPPOSITE of "works of art."

It’s a figure of speech. People understand the difference between a product and a piece of art.

I love Fender but they are the farthest thing to works of art. They were mass produced and made by Mexican housewives. Just because we love something does not mean that they are works of art. They are beautiful good instruments.👍
