After watching the first few minutes of this video. I thought it would come in handy to have a shackle attached to each side of the rear cross member, so that you could attach a chain from the tractor. Keep up the good work we preciatcha!

You're not lying about the views...that mountain range is impressive. As for the other type of views, I can't understand why you don't get more likes. Your videos have never failed to entertain me. If I might offer a piece of #totallyunsolicitedadvice, I would replace every gasket and seal I suspected of fire damage, especially since you're pulling the engine anyway. This series will take a minute or 5, but it will get done, and with the revisions you make, the Dodgillac (correct me if I misspelled it) will be better than ever.👍👍

Ken, Many of us were saddened when we heard about the fire, We wondered if you would survive the heartbreak of loosing something you put so much of your heart into. We love seeing the passion you put into each project you take on. I personally live vicariously thru you, as I don't have the time, place or money to do projects like you do. I am so glad you have decided to dig back in to this project, even if it hurt our hearts to hear it dragging thru the gravel to get it into the shop. I feel that you also feel that way and will bring her back better than ever. Thanks for your vision, your talent, and your sense of humor.

It was this build that got my attention to your channel, on account of loving the 39 to 47 Dodge truck. I just may be addicted to your content! I was heartbroken when I saw what happened. On the other hand, I love the idea of watching more videos that get into the nitty-gritty of the "dodgalack". Your pain is my gain, I'm sorry to say.

Glad ta see ya got yer mind (and your heart) right to get back on this piece of art! I started watchin back in the early days of this build. My two cents- I was gonna say get her up in the air as best ya can and get her rolling, it’ll be in and out of the shop many times and ya don’t want to be groaning in the back of yer mind ever time ya gotta move it. I’d block it with some wood front and back, full up. Next is wash the black stuff off, 3 or 4 times, that’s stuff is gonna be everywhere and we don’t like listening to the dryer runnin in the background 😉. Pull all the damaged stuff of and make a list as ya go. Maybe a white board and some markers, no to be fancy like some of those other channels but just to see some progress as ya go along. I see it as a three part job, 1 front suspension, 2 general mechanical stuff, 3 electrical….4 sheetmetal and body stuff so four, yea, a four part job. I would probably jump around on those just to keep my interest up but it does help to divide the elephant into smaller bites. I’m sure we’ll all be watching and pointing out what your doing wrong along the way 🤓

Seeing the bushings are burnt out of the control arms and it looks like the drain plug gasket is even partly melted out of the oil pan. I would say pull the oil pan off go through it and reseal it. The rear main seal should be fine or less flames or heat got up to it.

Your Ol'girl is a little sick right now, but sure enough you will fix her up doc! As far as the gaskets are concerned, I be worried about the rear main seal becoming distorted from the heat, it might be OK or might not, tough call, if you are replacing most of the gaskets, might as well do them all.

I recently completed a master bath remodel where I blew it clear back to the floor joists and wall studs. The theme was 1900 to 1945 industrial so the toilet, shower and countertop/sinks are modern but everything else is old industrial. Valves, brass, electric disconnects with exposed contacts switching 12 volt LED lights, corrugated tin ceiling with exposed ceiling joists, massive bare steel under the countertop/sinks. I'm an old guy like you and like you I work alone. It took me a year but like you I loved using my mind and my imagination. The result couldn't have been better. Your rebuild will be better too.

When stuff like this happens to me (& believe me it has), I look at it as what I like to call "an engineer's blessing." It gives the post-heartache opportunity to rethink styling cues, occasionally even inspired by the event itself. Sheet metal can bend/warp in unpredictable ways, & then that little lightbulb pops on over one's head. Been known to happen. Also provides a chance to put in access doors for hard to reach fasteners, etc. Refits can be awesome. Just sayin'. On a related note, you were totally correct to bring her in sans pressure wash. Makes post-incident failure analysis way easier & more effective, because you can see carbon/dirt/etc trails & such. Maybe there was a secondary or even tertiary factor that no one could've predicted, but now is plainly visible? Should prove interesting.. 🧐🧐🧐🧐🧐🧐

Nothing better than a back up plan , for the back up plan . That was money well spent , on an engine , that's getting harder to find . Oh boy , looks like the scene of the crime . That ceiling sure matches the char on that car . Yikes ! That was even worse than I thought , Ken ! Thankfully the Good Lord is a Fan of your channel here , & you had the where-with-all to realize the problem , feeding the bigger problem , that being a gas fire , & shut it off ! Hallelujah ! Good save ! Assess the situation . You still have a car , & a garage to work on it in . So , let's see what We see . Aside from the peripherals , & suspension , the engine should be fine . Ain't leaking , or seeping . Won't know , until you run it . Maybe a great time for those upgrades . I'm thinking it isn't as bad as it looks , Waylon . Mostly bags , suspension parts , hoses , some wiring , a tire , gaskets , carbs , headlights , & a fuel pump . A ton of cleaning , but it will live again ! Pretty slick , airing up them tanks to get the rear off the deck . Take your bath a month early ? Lmao ! Ya , I reckon a good power washing might have prevented such a catastrophe .🤣Lord have mercy ! We love ya , & sure do appreciate ya , Ken . Even more now , than before this video post , as that was a closer call than most of us knew . You can always make them better , & I'm thinking you will . It's a thing of beauty , that rig . God Bless !

Last time I helped someone wire a street rod the guy wanted to run each wire individually... I told him no. Get 2 2x8 foot pieces of plywood and place them and to end on sawhorses. Draw your wiring diagram then transfer each part to the plywood (knowing that things like lights need extra wire to be 4 to 6' apart). Then start running all your grounds along the board, then run all your hots in different colors making it easier to trace wires, like red/red with a stripe for back lights, stripes being left side, blue for backup etc etc etc. You can put wire loom over all the wires as they lay on the board, or zip tie them as needed. THEN move your complete harness to the car running it thru holes where needed... You will end with a much neater and easier to fix harness, and you will have a wiring diagram you can place in a zip lock then stash in the car somewhere...

I had the same problem years ago with a 79 honda civic. It had ran hot and I had head serviced couple times and replaced the head gasket each time still getting water in oil. Finally pulled the block and had it planed and that solved the problem. It was an aluminum block, not sure if the subaru block is aluminum or not but if it is your block surface might be warped.

Totally understand not like doing things over especially after spending so much time on it before. Kinda takes the wind out of your sails. I had a car on jack stands once for 4 years. First time out it was flawless until that same day I parked it in a parking lot way far away from anyone and when I came out of the store I could see a shopping cart leaning against it. Put a nice big dent in the fender. Its like why do we even try sometimes. Your not alone my friend.
