There's something very comforting about the sound of a classic internal combustion engine.

My Grandparents had a 65 or 66 Rambler Station Wagon. It was always neat as a pin. The ones in the mid 60's started to look more streamline and more modern looking. Simple to work on. Inexpensive and reliable. Things you don't see in today's cars.

This was my first car given to me by my dad, except it was white on the outside and had the same champagne interior color. It was in immaculate condition just like this one. My gosh it seems like yesterday, despite my old age. 😕

AMC did wisely. Lights, radio, and other functions did not run unless the car was started. I laughed at Rambler. The Ambassador was good. Liked that golden yellow color. My error.

My dad had one in white with red interior. Brings back memories of times in Brooklyn NY. Thanks!

Ramblers were such sensible practical cars and still attractive, guys with crew cuts and button down shirts bought them new and hippies bought them used

Oh man, that brought back some memories! My first new car was a '64' Rambler 770, two door hardtop with the 284ci V-8, and three speed manual. My Dad (RIP) was a partner in a Nash (later AMC) dealership in Flint, Mi. I ordered a four barrel carburetor and manifold for the 327 ci V-8, and switched it for the OEM two barrel. Changed the character of the car in a good way, and it was quicker than my pal's '64' Chevy Impala 327. I drove the car for two years and traded for a new '66' Ambassador.

Look at how much room there is in the back seat. Every American Motors car I rode in seemed solid and well made. The light champagne gold paint looks appropriate, classy but not flashy

This is back when cars were really fun to drive! A 327 cubic inch V8 would make this car a competitive racer and performer!

Beautiful car. I had a 65 770 with that same engine. Couldn’t hear it run though

They were Beauties I love that classic functional design. FYI, all the "baby" Mercedes 220 dimensions match the Rambler to within 1 1/2 in. except for the rear trunk lid! Just a coincidence?

Who would be so cheap, to order a 770, without the reclining seats?

I have a 64 440 convertible. Do you know what the d1 and d2 do on the gear selector? It was my grandfathers car and he never told me what the difference between the two were. I’m assuming d2 is for highway speeds.

I think d2 was the "overdrive" for getting on the highway
@ramblerdave1339 Жыл бұрын
@@skylinegtr4045Nope, it just starts out in second gear, instead of first.

Car has a Mercedes sort of look to it. Conservative before the big three went to the conservative look.

Vs versa, Mercedes , start of 1965, has look of the Rambler .

what is the engine, the 287? The car online looks mint, yours? That was my first full time car but it had the 232 six. It was 7 years old when I got it, good car.

D1 starts in 1st gear, D2 starts in 2nd gear ( better for snow or sand).
